    BUCKNER – Kelly Moyer thought it was a prank played by her coaches and teammates, but it turned out to be real.

    Moyer, an Oldham County High School junior volleyball player, has been voted the Eighth Region’s Player of the Year by the region’s coaches.

    They’re like classroom chameleons. Blending in with others, some even riding the school bus and taking part in afternoon extra-curriculars. But scores of out-of-district students are likely attending Oldham County Schools illegally –– violating board policy and contributing to the district’s growing pains. 

  • North Oldham’s Lauren Kline signs with Furman

    North Oldham High School senior Lauren Kline signs to play tennis for Furman University next year. Kline is the defending state tennis champion and a three-time regional champion for the Lady Mustangs. Kline is ranked in the top 50 junior players in the nation and is an honor student at NOHS and member of the Beta Club.

     

  • Group volunteers to rake leaves for locals

    Several groups from Crestwood Baptist Church spent Nov. 8 visiting homes in the community and raking leaves for residents who said “Yes” when the volunteers knocked on their door. Volunteer Jennifer Nevins said it was an awesome time of serving others and enjoying time with friends.

  • Photographer’s work selected for international exhibit

    A photographic image created by Jonathan Brown, co-owner of Monarch Photography LLC in Crestwood, has been accepted into the general collection of the 117th International Exhibition of Professional Photography, on display Jan.11-13 in Phoenix. 

    This exhibition takes place in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention of more than 8,600 professional photographers and several photographic associations.

    Murner joins brother as state champ, girls win first title

    LEXINGTON – There’s no telling how good Jessie Murner would be if cross country were her No. 1 sport.

    Murner, a South Oldham sophomore, won the state AA cross country title while leading the Lady Dragons to the team title as well at the Kentucky Horse Park.

  • Do holiday prep, shopping in Oldham to spur economy, create jobs

    Earlier this year, the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce launched a new Web site to encourage Oldham Countians to buy products and utilize services from Oldham County businesses and Chamber members. There are more than 400 businesses in the local Chamber of Commerce and about 1,800 licensed in Oldham County. All are listed on the website, www.whybuyoldhamcounty.com. A significant percentage of those businesses are locally owned and/or managed.
