  • Reconstructed Ky. 393 officially open

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has officially opened the reconstructed portion of Ky. 393 near Centerfield in Oldham County.  Transportation Secretary Joe Prather was joined Tuesday by local officials in cutting a ribbon for the roadway, which extends from Interstate 71 to Ky. 22.

  • Ballardsville Baptist Church hosts monthly hymn sing

    Ballardsville Baptist Church hosted the Oldham County Hymn Sing Nov. 11. Mrs. Boots Covington from Eminence Baptist Church gave a hearty welcome. There were 12 folks in attendance and 10 churches represented.

    Deer harvest saves taxpayer money To the editor: In recent weeks I’ve been reading about the I-71 deer issues and am a little disturbed about what is being said.   I went to school to earn a degree in wildlife management and have also been an avid hunter for 20 years.  Mayor Carter has made it clear she is against hunting on the property but calling it irresponsible to allow bow hunting shows her ignorance.   It takes lots of time to become a successful bow hunter, not to mention patience.

  • A $1.9m scheme

    A federal grand jury indicted a Crestwood businessman and several other Oldham residents Nov. 20 for a scheme awarding $1.9 million in false veterans disability benefits.

  • Icing on the cake

    LOUISVILLE – They may have practice in the fog at times, but the Oldham County ice hockey team has not played in a fog this year.

    The team, made up of players from all three local high schools, has posted a 7-0 record this season.

  • Airport board survey to begin in January

    On Tuesday, the Oldham County Airport Board’s Survey Committee reviewed a draft of a survey that will collect feedback from residents about a proposed general aviation airport.

    Last month committee members met with a Kansas-based company – ETC Institute – which will facilitate the survey.
