  • How to prevent pipes from freezing

    For residents without power, the Louisville Water Co. recommends the following precautions if your home is without power.

    If you do not have power and are going to leave your home, find the main shut-off valve and turn off the water.

    If you are going to stay in your home and do not have power you may want to consider running a small (pencil lead size) steady stream of water from a cold water faucet to help prevent your pipes from freezing.

    “I’m thankful that I lived to see a black president,” the 75-year-old Ida Mae Beaumont said.

    The Latest: A Carrollton woman is dead after a crash on I-71 near La Grange on Jan. 15.

    According to police, a 1993 Chevy Cavalier traveling south on I-71 left the roadway, traveled a short distance and overturned and struck a rock embankment shortly before 5 p.m.

    Waking to a thin blanket of snow Monday morning, I sure was glad the deer had left my front lawn this weekend, and took with it the lights, garland and ribbons. Though they hadn’t been illuminated since Jan. 3, I’m pretty sure I was the last house in my neighborhood to put away Christmas this year.
