  • Cross Country: Dragon Invitational

    Harmony Elementary edged past Goshen Elementary in two very close team races to win the boys’ and girls’ titles in their division.

    The Harmony girls nipped Goshen 83-84 led by Hannah Mosier in fourth place. Nicole Grendi led Goshen with a third-place finish.

    The Harmony boys scored 56 points, just ahead of Goshen with 61. Dylan Yates’ second-place finish paced Harmony. Centerfield’s Tanner Johnson was the individual champion.

  • OCHS band hosts fruit fundraiser

    Members of the Oldham County High School Band are hosting their annual fresh Florida citrus sale as a fundraiser for the band. 

    The sale continues through Nov. 11, and fruit will be delivered the second week in December.

    South Oldham Middle School teachers planted kisses on Wilbur the pot-bellied pig Friday at a pep rally in the school gym. The rally also included the recognition of the school’s fall athletic teams. Students donated a quarter to vote for which teachers they wanted to see kiss the pig with the proceeds going to the school’s fund for less-fortunate students to assist those students and their families during the holidays.

  • Cross Country: Dragon Invitational

    CENTERFIELD – Powered by a one-two finish from sisters Claire and Margaret Grogan the Oldham County High School girls’ cross country team won the South Oldham Dragon Invitational Saturday.

    The Lady Colonels’ 35 points edged SOHS with 41. SOHS was led by Grace Whitworth in third and Jessie Murner in fifth. North Oldham’s Caitlin Beyea was fourth to lead the Lady Mustangs to third place.

  • Bary assigned to Air Force recruiting office

    Staff Sgt. Jaime Bary from Ramsey, Ind. was recently assigned to the U.S. Air Force recruiting office in La Grange.

    Bary is a graduate of the Air Force Recruiting School in San Antonio, where she was trained in various areas of study, including the airman classification system, testing and enlistment processing procedures, public speaking and the Web page at www.airforce.com

    She was selected for the special course and for recruiting duty as a volunteer with an outstanding Air Force record.

  • Portion of lunch checks Tuesday will go to South Oldham Rotary

    The South Oldham Rotary Club invites supporters to dine at Buckhead Mountain Grill on Westport Road Tuesday as part of a club fundraiser.

    Buckhead will donate 20 percent of your check to the South Oldham Rotary. 

    A flyer, which can be downloaded from the Rotary Web site at www.southoldhamrotary.org must be presented for each check and may be used for lunch or dinner.

  • Mustangs strike early to beat Bears

    GOSHEN – It took the North Oldham Mustangs about 12 seconds Friday to show they were ready to rebound from a district loss to Henry County as the Mustangs rolled over Spencer County 28-0.

    NOHS’ Zach Evans celebrated his return from a foot injury by returning the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown setting the stage for a dominating performance by the Mustangs. It was a repeat of last year’s game with Spencer when NOHS’ Andrew Tuller returned a kickoff for a score to give NOHS a hard fought win.
