  • Oldham County Chamber of Commerce hosts career fair

    The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce will host a career/job fair next month. 

    3 p.m. – 6 p.m. June 22 John Black Community Center 1551 N. Ky. 393 The cost for a booth is $175 for chamber members and $275 for non-chamber members. Call the chamber office at 222-1635 or dekarem@oldhamcountychamber.com for more information and registration forms. Sponsorships are also available for $500 and $275. This price includes booth space.   

  • Swine flu confirmed in Oldham

    Health officials confirmed that a 41-year-old Oldham County man contracted the H1N1 virus earlier this month.  His symptoms began May 3, and he has since recovered, Oldham County Health Department Public Information Officer Chad Lynch said. The man received treatment at Norton Immediate Care Center for mild symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose and shortness of breath.  Health officials say the man hadn’t traveled out of the country recently.     Game highlights: The Colonels jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first two innings and were never threatened after to advance to the district finals.

  • Memorial Day service planned Monday

     Oldham County American Legion Post 39 will host a Memorial Day program Monday at the corner of Main Street and Ky. 53 in La Grange.  The Oldham County Community Band will perform prior to the 10 a.m. ceremony.  

  • River Road crash claims the life of 18-year-old Crestwood woman

    Police are investigating a crash that killed a Crestwood woman Friday morning on River Road.

    According to Louisville Metro Police, a vehicle traveling eastbound on River Road flipped several times about 10:30 a.m. Friday, ejecting both occupants – Caroline N. Minks, 18, of Crestwood, and an 18-year-old male from Goshen.

    Minks died at the scene.

  • Chamber explores merger of local agencies

    In June, the boards of the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce and the Oldham County Economic Development Authority will decide whether to merge into one new economic development agency. 

    For more than six months, a committee of chamber and business leaders have discussed such a venture. After numerous meetings and discussions, we encourage the business community to get behind this initiative. 

  • Anchorage marathon is official

     I signed up for the Mayor’s Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska yesterday. No turning back now. I’ve paid my $70 for my race t-shirt that I’ll receive when I cross the finish line (race shirts are expensive because they come with lots of smiles when you wear them weeks after the race and remember what you did, and where you went to get them).

    The Oldham County Grand Slam starts with the Roman Road 5K May 30. Have you signed up? Go ahead and register. It’ll get you mentally ready and motivated.
