    Investigators have yet to determine the cause of a fire this morning at The Game Room in Crestwood Station.

    Crews were called to the shopping center about 8:45 a.m. as smoke poured from an exterior wall at the front entrance.

    Black spoke Monday during a Memorial Day service hosted by American Legion Post No. 39 and the City of La Grange.

  • A bigger jail could bring big bucks for the county

    Sometimes a blackout is needed to highlight a potentially dangerous situation, such as the Oldham County Jail losing power last week during the bad thunderstorms that shook southern Indiana and Metro Louisville.
    Even though a generator should have kicked in so that the jail maintained power, it failed to operate for a short time.

    So far this summer, Perry Rieinger of Hillview has accumulated four trophies and three plaques by attending car shows all over Kentucky where he proudly shows off his 1981 gray Corvette Stingray.

    Legendary jockey Pat Day told an enticing tale May 26 at the John Black Community Center in Buckner.
    As guest speaker for the Homebuilders’ Association of Louisville, he stood before a large group of Oldham County homebuilders and their associates – bankers, framers, manufacturers, plumbers, insurance salesmen, and many other contract professionals.

    The 2011 version of the Crestwood Baptist Church Roman Road 5K on May 21 was just awesome.
    Great weather, a great turnout of Oldham Countians looking to improve their health and have some fun, and a very cool T-shirt to boot.


    Local artist Tony Abbott can’t wait to crank up his chainsaw and splinter wood at the 11th annual Arts on the Green Fine Arts & Crafts Show this weekend.
    The two-day event is scheduled Saturday and Sunday on Courthouse Square in La Grange.

  • Arts on the Green planned June 4, 5

    Over 100 booths of juried artists and craftsmen will be displaying their works on the shaded Oldham County Courthouse lawn June 4-5.
    Free to the public, hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.
    This well attended show is in its 11th year and is the primary fundraiser for the Arts Association of Oldham County.

  • Goshen home to be torn down amid insurance battle

    A vacant, boarded up structure that used to be a home on Harmony Landing Road in Goshen will soon be demolished after a decision by Oldham County Fiscal Court.
    Homeowners Shane and Lira Armstrong have been locked in a lawsuit with their insurance company since their home burned in February 2010, and the lengthy legal process has prompted safety concerns in the community.
