The Oldham County Public Library will award $600 in scholarship money to an outstanding student in the class of 2008. The aim of the scholarship is to reward students that have provided exemplary service in the school library media center or in the public library and have exhibited potential for accomplishment in the field of librarianship.

The South Oldham Lady Dragons left nothing to chance Tuesday as they dispensed of Trimble County handily in the first round of the 29th District basketball tournament at Trimble.

The situation looked ripe for an upset. The 29th District Tournament’s top seed, South Oldham, limped into the tournament as losers of five straight games. Trimble County had won five of their last seven.
