    Prospect Latin Preschool will host a summer preview night for families from 3:45 to 6:15 p.m. today (Thursday).

  • Wassel graduates from basic training

    U.S. Army Pfc. Andrew S. Wassel recently graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

    During the nine weeks of training, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

    Wassel is the son of Donald Wassel of La Grange. He is a 2004 graduate of Oldham County High School.

  • Issue of gender inequality for athletes at NOHS is clear

    To the editor:

    I would like to thank The Oldham Era for shedding some light on the school district’s inequalities with respect to gender in its athletic programs.

    I also appreciate your efforts to present a balanced story by giving viewpoints from both sides of the issue. However, by closing the article with six paragraphs on how nice the recent use of the facility has been for the girls without a single mention of how the facility has been so much nicer for the boys, the pendulum swung back too far and the article seemed to lose its balance.

  • Moore graduates from air force basic training

    U.S. Air Force Airman Daniel L. Moore recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

    Moore is  the son of Terry and Kim Moore of La Grange. He is a 2006 graduate of Oldham County High School.

    Name: Kailey Rigdon.

    School: East Oldham Middle School.

    Sport: Softball.

    Position: Shortstop.

    Hometown: Centerfield.

    Accomplishments: Rigdon is emerging as a solid softball prospect for the Oldham County High School program as a starting shortstop on the Lady Colonels’ JV team and could see varsity time before the season is over.

    In the summer she plays for the powerhouse Oldham Outrage AAU team as a first-baseman

    It’s an election year in Oldham County. On May 18, voters have a chance to select a number of leaders for elected office including the Oldham County judge-executive, county clerk, county jailer and other positions.

  • IRS office open Saturday to help people struggling with taxes

    The local IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center will be open in Louisville on Saturday to  give struggling taxpayers the opportunity to work directly with IRS employees.  

    The office is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and is located at 600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Place, Louisville, Ky.,  40202.
