  • Engagement Announcement

    Steve and Laura Schweitzer of Nicholasville announce the engagement of their daughter, Lindsey Schweitzer to Buck Hartlage, son of Dutch and Sandy Hartlage of Crestwood.

    The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of East Jessamine High School. She will graduate in December with degree in elementary education from Eastern Kentucky University. She is employed by Our House at the Pinnacle. She is the granddaughter of Ed and Joan Schweitzer of Crestwood.

    The groom-elect is a 2005 graduate of Oldham County High School. He attends EKU and is employed by Nationwide Fence Co.

  • Jurich is rotary club’s guest speaker

    Tom Jurich, Vice President for Athletics at the University of Louisville for the past 12 years, will be the guest speaker at the South Oldham Rotary Club’s meeting Dec. 4.  

    The club meets Fridays at 7:30 a.m. at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center. Visitors are welcome.

  • ‘Taking Care of History’ series continues Dec. 3

    The next lecture in the Oldham County History Center’s “Taking Care of History” brown bag series takes place Dec. 3. 

    The lecture, called “Who Am I?” will be led by staff genealogist Dot Carraco. 

    Carraco will give tips for research on local family history. She has led the research on genealogy and cemeteries for the Oldham County History Center. 

    Classes are free but registration is required. Refreshments will be served and participants are encouraged to bring their own “brown bag.” 

  • Annual Youth For Food collection benefits Eastern Area Community Ministries

    On two Saturdays in November, two local churches will join together to collect food for Eastern Area Community Ministries in the annual Youth For Food collection. Boy and Girl Scouts will be collecting in Crestwood, Pewee Valley and La Grange and several food pantries and community food drives will benefit, including Immaculate Conception Parish Food Pantry in La Grange. In addition, a school collection at St. Mary Academy will also benefit the Immaculate Conception Parish Food Pantry.
