  • Preschool to host cookie walk

    The Crestwood United Methodist Church Preschool will host its annual “Cookie Walk” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. 

    Crestwood United Methodist Church is located at 7214 Kavanaugh Road, Crestwood.

    Come be a “Cookie Walker” and purchase a $10 tin or $20 box and fill it with homemade cookies.

  • Timmons is livestock show announcer

    Hayden Timmons of La Grange recently announced during a livestock show at the North American International Livestock Exposition. 

    Timmons is the Freedom Hall Show Ring Announcer at the NAILE. 

    Prior to his retirement, he was a full time business executive and executive director of Kentucky Governor’s Council on Agriculture. 

    He is a broadcast radio announcer, and is a legislative representative for rural electrical cooperatives across Kentucky.

  • Meth lab discovered in Crestwood

    Police discovered a meth lab late Wednesday night in Crestwood.

    According to police, officers visited a home in the 4800 block of Harvest Drive to conduct a well-being check on residents at the home. 

    While at the residence, officers discovered items used to manufacture methamphetamine. The homeowners later admitted they had a meth lab on the property.

    Three juvenile children living at the residents were later released to other family members.

  • Brentwood saga continues, construction begins

    The sight of construction equipment moving dirt on the proposed site of Brentwood subdivision is leaving some Crestwood residents uneasy. 

    While neighboring property owners say construction is taking place prematurely, representatives for Oldham Farms development say they’re acting within the law – even though they risk losing money. 

    Brentwood is a 345-home subdivision proposed at Clore Lane and Spring Hill Trace in Crestwood. 

  • Residents appointed to local posts

    County officials made the following recommendations and appointments at their meeting Tuesday:

    • Ronald Miller and Donna Doss, first-step recommendations to Extension District Board, two-year terms; and

    • Julie Wilson and Sallie Haynes, re-appointment to Oldham County Public Library Board, three-year term for Wilson, four-year term for Haynes.

     

  • Saddle club to meet

    The Oldham County Saddle Club will host a meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday at the South Oldham Fire Department in Crestwood.

  • Breakfast with Santa is Saturday

    The annual La Grange Elementary PTA Breakfast with Santa  is 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Hometown Pizza in La Grange.   Prices are $4 for ages 12 and older, children 5-12 are $3 and younger than 5 are free.  Pancakes, bacon, sausage, juice, milk and coffee will be served. Santa will also be there and availabe for pictures.

  • 2010 election heats up

    The county’s deputy judge-executive will face a magistrate from La Grange in the upcoming election for Oldham County judge-executive. 

    District 2 Magistrate David Voegele recently announced his candidacy for judge-executive and says he believes having a choice among candidates is always the better course for voters and county government. 

    Voegele describes himself as frugal and said holding the line on government expenses is the number one issue in the campaign. 

  • Nature of Christmas in Goshen takes place Saturday

    From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve will host The Nature of Christmas in Goshen.

    The event includes a lunch of chili and hot dogs – first-come, first-serve – and hot chocolate. There will also be wagon rides, a bonfire, crafts and more, including a visit from Santa. To volunteer, host a gift booth, or be a sponsor, call 228-4362 or visit www.KYNaturePreserve.org.

  • South Oldham High School hosts college and career night

    South Oldham High School will host a college and career night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in the SOHS cafeteria.

    The topic is  resume writing and interview tips for college and jobs.

    Dale Herink from Sage Advice will conduct a hands-on workshop that focuses on what to include in a resume and how to present yourself in a college or job interview.  

    All who attend will leave with a framework for writing a personal resume.

    Another college and career night is planned 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7 in the SOHS media center and focuses on college costs.
