The owners of Norma Jean’s Trackside want to take it to the streets, or at least to the sidewalk.

The co-owner of the Main Street restaurant, John Burley, asked members of La Grange City Council at their March meeting and again in April to allow alcohol sales to customers seated at tables along the sidewalk outside the restaurant.

An enterprising inmate housed at the Kentucky State Reformatory allegedly created a computer program to divert about $6,800 to inmate accounts during a 13-month period.

Employees of state auditor Crit Luallen’s office discovered the apparent theft after working with the state Department of Corrections to examine the agency’s inmate payroll processing system.

Administrators for Oldham County Schools are working to minimize impact on students as they formulate a tight budget.

School board treasurer Chuck Littrell said a 1 percent increase in funds allocated to schools by state legislature during each of the next two years is the least he can remember. He said the increase is usually about 2.5 percent per year.

The University of Kentucky has recently recognized 112 students from Oldham County who were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester.

To make a dean’s list in one of UK’s colleges, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes. Some UK colleges require a 3.5 GPA to make the dean’s list.
