  • Oldham students named to Universityof Louisville’s dean’s list

    Several Oldham County students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Louisville for the spring semester.

  • Wedding Announcment

    Lauren Nicole Chavez and Evan Alexander Rosenman were married June 6 at the home of the groom’s parents.

    The bride is the daughter of Pam Isaacs of Crestwood and Victor Chavez of Chicago. She graduated from South Oldham High School and attended the University of Louisville.

    The groom is the son of Barbara and Michael Rosenman of Smithfield. He graduated from South Oldham High School and attended the University of Louisville.

    The couple resides in St. Matthews.

  • Ironman and the cost of competition

    Athletes from around the world will venture to Oldham County next month for the Ford Ironman Louisville competition. 

    Yet some Oldham residents would prefer if the athletes and spectators just stayed home.

    The event is a triathlon encompassing Jefferson and Oldham counties.

    Ironman includes swimming for 2.4 miles, biking for 112 miles and running for 26.2 miles, all in succession. The top two finishers for each age group will qualify for the October world championship in Kona, Hawaii.

    Yeah, right.

    The homes are beautiful, enviable and creative, but let’s be clear. 

    They’re not green. 

    There’s no such thing as a 7,800-square foot green home.

  • Local students graduate from Centre College

    Several local students recently earned a bachelor’s degree from Centre College. 

    Tyler Foote earned degrees in government and history.  He was awarded The Jobson Memorial Prize for student government association.

    Foote is the son of Donald and Kellie Foote of Goshen and is a graduate of North Oldham High School.

    Tamaryn Tuller earned a degree in elementary education, and graduated cum laude.

    Tuller is the daughter of Oliver and Karen Tuller of Prospect and is a graduate of North Oldham High School.

  • North stars return

    LA GRANGE - Hoping the home field advantage may be just the edge they need, the North Oldham Little League Senior All-Stars are primed for another run at the state softball title.

    The All-Stars will start their run at the title after winning the District 2 championship for the second year in a row last week at Nelson County. The state tourney for both the senior and junior divisions will start at 4 p.m. Saturday at Walsh Park in La Grange.

    Race track slots would help state

    To the editor:

    If you asked someone what Kentucky is known for, you would most likely hear “horses and tobacco.” However, in the past few years, both have seen more than their fair share of hard times. It is almost as if our state representatives are crippling what Kentucky is known for with their decisions made in the name of saving Kentuckians from themselves. 

  • Brewer, Elsenbroek graduate from basic

    U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Adam L. Brewer and Airman Eric J. Elsenbroek recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in  San Antonio.

    They completed eight weeks of training in military discipline, values, physical fitness, and basic warfare.

    Brewer is the son of Laura and Dave Brewer of Crestwood and a 2003 graduate of South Oldham High School. Elsenbroek is the son of Eric C. Elsenbroek of Crestwood and a 2006 graduate of Buckner High School.

  • Two from Oldham graduate from Centre College

    Two Oldham students recently graduated from Centre College.

    Allison Perkins earned a degree in mathematics, and graduated cum laude. Perkins is the daughter of Doug Perkins of Crestwood and an Oldham County High School graduate. 

    Ryan Smith earned a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. Smith is the son of Jeff and Diane Smith of Crestwood and an OCHS graduate.
