Ashley McMurtrey, who became only the second player in Oldham County girls basketball history last season to score 2,000 points in her career, has picked up in college where she left off.
McMurtrey, a freshman guard at Shawnee State University, is leading the team in scoring at 18.5 points per game.
McMurtrey scored 26 points on 11-of-29 shooting in her first game Nov. 1, a win over Kent State University-Tuscaraw.
Then on Nov. 7, McMurtrey scored 40 points in a win against Calumet College of St. Joseph. She hit 10 3-pointers in 15 attempts that night.
