    March 5 -- Anthony A. Branham, 20, La Grange was arrested for possession of schedule 3 controlled substance, unlawful transaction with minor 2nd degree and unlawful transaction with minor 3rd degree

    March 5 -- Richard T Roberts, 34, Stamping Ground, was arrested for speeding 15 mph over, failure to wear seat belt, operating on suspended/revoked operators license, failure to produce ins card, failure of non-owner operator to main req insurance, 1st offense, improper display of registration plates.

  • Greenwood comes up clutch for South Tuesday

    NEW CASTLE – South Oldham has had different seniors step up throughout the postseason on its way to a second-straight Region 8 title.

    Thursday night it was Drew Bullock scoring a career-high 25 points and hitting seven 3's to send South past Owen County 84-77 in the first round. Monday in the semifinals Kyle Young scored 30 points, including 17 in the first quarter, to push the Dragons past Collins 63-62 in overtime.

  • New Team, Dream Accomplished

    NEW CASTLE – South Oldham’s team motto all season has been “New Team, Same Dream.”

    The Dragons now have a new motto, according to senior guard Drew Bullock.

    “ ‘New Team, Dream Accomplished,’ that’s what it is!” Bullock said Tuesday night.

    South accomplished its dream of going back to the Boys Sweet 16, beating Simon Kenton 50-47 Tuesday at Henry County in overtime of the boys Region 8 title game.

  • South survives Collins, advances to finals

    NEW CASTLE – Collins had four chances to end South Oldham's season Monday night in the boys Region 8 semifinals. But after 36 minutes of play, the Dragons had survived and advanced.

    South held on to beat the Titans 63-62 in overtime Monday at Henry County, advancing to Tuesday night's regional championship. The Dragons will play Simon Kenton at 7 p.m. Tuesday, looking to win their second straight and second ever Region 8 title.

  • Colonels come back, then fall to Simon Kenton

    NEW CASTLE – Oldham County did the hard work in climbing out of a late 13-point hole Monday night against Simon Kenton.

    But once the Colonels finally got a lead, they couldn't quite finish the job.

    Simon scored five points in the final minute to stun OC 60-57 in the boys Region 8 semifinals at Henry County, ending the Colonels' season one night short of the region title game. The Pioneers will play South Oldham at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the Region 8 championship.

  • McKee, Anderson end Lady Colonels' season

    DRY RIDGE – A streaking Oldham County team ran into an opponent that was just a little too good Saturday afternoon.

    Eriel McKee scored 24 points and No. 2 Anderson County ended OC's season with a 62-42 defeat in the Region 8 semifinals at Grant County.

    The loss was the Lady Colonels' first in five games and just their third in their last 11 contests. OC (16-9) still hasn't made a region title game since 2001.

  • Colonels get past Henry in first round

    NEW CASTLE – In the first three quarterfinal games of the boys Region 8 tournament, the favorites struggled early but won in the end.

    District 29 champ Oldham County repeated that trend in the fourth and last quarterfinal of the tournament Friday night.

    OC trailed host Henry County well into the third quarter Friday before pulling away and winning 72-59 at the Roy. L. Winchester Gymnasium. The Colonels advanced to the region semifinals, where they'll meet Simon Kenton at 8:30 p.m. Monday.

  • Bullock, South shoot into semis

    NEW CASTLE – A bedrock basketball rule saved South Oldham's season Thursday night while Owen County's Carson Williams was scoring 37 points and grabbing 21 rebounds.

    Three points are always better than two.

    South hit 14 3-pointers, seven of which came from Drew Bullock, and the Dragons overcame Williams' post dominance to beat the Rebels 84-77 in the boys Region 8 tournament at Henry County. South, the defending region champ, advanced to a Monday night semifinal against Collins.

  • Lady Colonels roll Henry, set up Anderson showdown

    DRY RIDGE – Three days before the Lady Colonels take on the state's No. 2 team, Oldham County showed Wednesday why it thinks it can win that game.

    OC overwhelmed Henry County 63-32 Wednesday in the first round of the girls Region 8 tournament at Grant County. The win set up a semifinal showdown with No. 2 Anderson County, scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Grant.
