     Not only did Friday mark the end to another busy week in the Kentucky Senate, it also was day 46 of our 60-day legislative session. We are now in the proverbial “fourth quarter” when the House and the Senate must come together to get a victory for the state of Kentucky by passing a responsible budget.

  • Apple Patch Community, Inc. receives $60,000 grant

      Apple Patch announced that it recently received a $60,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program to assist with the purchase of two Americans with Disabilities Act compliant six-passenger wheelchair-accessible vans.  This grant will have a tremendous impact on local individuals with disabilities who face mobility challenges in accessing their community.

  • Kentucky Gents Derby Extravaganza

     The Kentucky Gents Derby Extravaganza will be held Thursday, April 7 at 6 p.m. at Windy Meadows Farm, 1309 Bluegrass Parkway in La Grange.

    The fashion show features a “Dandy Duds for Derby Studs” jacket competition. The Dandy Duds jackets will be on display at Oxmoor Center from March 22 through May 31.

  • Community Holy Week Services March 21-25

    Come join Christians of all faiths for Holy Week worship together at La Grange Christian Church, 214 N. 1st Ave. in La Grange, the Monday through Friday of Holy Week, March 21 through 25, from noon to 1 p.m. Everyone is invited. 

    Worship will be from noon to 12:30 p.m. Special music will be provided by community choirs and vocalists. On Friday, the Oldham County High School Madrigals will sing the sermon. 

  • Cedar Lake Golf Tournament, June 20

    Cedar Lake Golf Tournament, June 20

    The sixth annual Cedar Lake Golf Tournament, sponsored by Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company, will be held Monday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hurstbourne Country Club. 

    In addition to the golf scramble, the event will include prizes, giveaways and a cookout buffet. 

  • Academic teams advance to state

     Middle schools competed in Governor’s Cup academic team competition Feb. 13, with high schools competing Feb. 20.

    North Oldham Middle School earned the regional team title, with students from NOMS, Oldham County Middle and South Oldham Middle advancing to the state level competition in March.
