  • Engagement: Vetovitz-Roe

    Judy and Stan Vetovitz of Crestwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Murray Vetovitz to Lance Martin Roe, of Youngstown, N.Y.

    The bride-to-be graduated from South Oldham High School in 2007, then Indiana University with a bachelor of arts degree in communications and marketing. She is employed as a senior media buyer at Butler/Till in Rochester, N.Y. She is currently pursuing an MBA.

Join Dr. Nancy Stearns Theiss, Ph.D., executive director of the Oldham County History Center, as she leads an informative and fun stroll through La Grange, pointing out various highlights of the town’s history.

  • Troop 28 conquers Philmont

    A 12-person crew from Boy Scout Troop 28, chartered to Kavanaugh Life Enrichment Center in Crestwood, recently returned from a 12-day expedition through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico.  

    Philmont covers 214 square miles of wilderness. The crew climbed peaks as high as 11,700 feet and hiked over 70 miles.

    Vanda K. Brock, 43, La Grange — arrested Aug. 13 for assault fourth degree

  • My cousin's weddin'

    This coming weekend, my cousin is getting married.  I don’t get to see that branch of the family very often, so I am considering driving to St. Louis for the ceremony.  I mentioned the possibility to my 8-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son.  

    Phoebe was, of course, very excited and immediately began discussing what she should wear.  This is a child after my own shallow heart.  She knows wearing just the right outfit can make or break any event.

    Centre dean’s list
    Area students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.6 grade point average.


    Students include:
    •Benjamin Finch is the son of Cecilia and John Finch of Centerfield and is a graduate of Oldham County Senior High School.
    •Hannah Ellis is the daughter of Scott and Jonna Ellis of Crestwood and is a graduate of South Oldham High School.
    •Chandler Garland is the daughter of Michael and Jamie Garland of Crestwood and is a graduate of South Oldham High School.

  • WKU geology student's research honored at ACA meeting

    Caleb Chappell of Crestwood, a junior in the WKU Geology program, was awarded the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) Pauling Poster Prize at the annual American Crystallographic Association meeting July 25-29 in Philadelphia, Penn.

    The Pauling Poster Prize is awarded to young researchers in honor of Nobel laureate Linus Pauling, a pioneer in crystal structure research.
