    Oldham County resident Mattie Copeland Parker staged an upset win at the Kentucky Democratic Convention June 7 in Lexington to win the single delegate seat in the 4th Congressional District for Sen. Barack Obama.ee

    Decked out in a denim jacket and covered with her collection of pins supporting Obama, she was busy most of the morning introducing herself to convention delegates and soliciting support.ee

    Local students named to dean’s list at Transylvania

    Transylvania University senior Stefanie Brock, freshman Sarah Conn, senior Emily Owens, junior Kelly Spratte-Lennington and senior Allyson Tucker have been named to the dean’s list for the winter term.

    To be named to the dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the term.

  • Man arrested for alleged involvement in Centerfield fight with juvenile

    A fight near Circle K in Centerfield recently left a young male injured and led to the arrest of a La Grange man.

    Oldham County Police responded to a fight in progress near midnight June 23 in the 2900 block of West Ky. 22 in Centerfield.

    A group of individuals told police they allegedly encountered Eric C. Hobbs while walking down Ky. 22 to return to their vehicle parked in the parking lot of Circle K.

  • Police charge juveniles for five-month crime spree

    Five juveniles are charged as part of a criminal syndicate of robberies, burglaries and thefts in La Grange.

    La Grange Police charged the juveniles with 66 offenses Thursday, including robbery, burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft of controlled substances, trafficking in controlled substances, tampering with physical evidence and engaging in organized crime.

  • KSP cruiser sideswiped during I-71 traffic stop

    A Kentucky State Police trooper suffered minor injuries during a traffic stop Monday on Interstate 71 as a commercial truck side-swiped his cruiser.

    According to police, KSP Trooper Rick Ellis stopped a motorist about 10:55 a.m. Monday near the 32 mile-marker on I-71 in Henry County.
