    Haselton Appointed

    Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Education Commission of the States to serve at the pleasure of the Governor: W. Blake Haselton, of LaGrange, is dean of the College of Education at the University of Louisville. The appointment replaces Bonnie L. Freeman.

    Walker awarded

    On September 11, the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors awarded Colleen E. Walker of Kentucky Select Properties the prestigious President’s Award.

  • Graves surprised, honored

    On Oct. 4, at a surprise goodbye party in her honor in LaGrange, Sandra Graves, Ph. D. was presented with the award certificate of Board Member Emeritus by Arts Association of Oldham County (AAOC) Vice President, E. Ann Stroth. Over thirty guests attended the event at the new Rails Restaurant. 

  • Powell Anniversary

    Louis and Vicky Powell of LaGrange will celebrate 50 years of marriage on October 19, 2013. 

    They are members of Ballardsville Baptist Church and have been long-term residents of LaGrange. 

    Louis is a past chief of the LaGrange Fire Department and Vicky is a homemaker. 

    They have two children: Allen (Amber) Powell and Robin (Tom) Grattan and three grandchildren: Shelby, Ryan and Katelyn.

  • Drug Take Back Day

    The next Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by Sheriff Steve Sparrow and the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will be Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the La Grange Fire Station 2, 3637 West Highway 146, Buckner.

    The national intiative is a program of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.

  • Sparks wins photography contest

    Keri Sparks of LaGrange, was named the first place winner at Gallery 104’s new show, “Old vs. New” Photography contest. The show was judged by Max Heath of Landmark Community Newspapers. 

    Show chairperson and artist Ann Stroth said the show, sponsored by an anonymous donor, included 34 works by 14 local artists.

    The winners are:

    2nd Place – The Small Boy by Barbara Manley Edds
