    Warrant arrests

    Laura A. Sexton, 18, 2000 Walnutwood Court, La Grange, arrested by OCSO July 29, failure to comply, Jefferson County warrant.

    Donald Holt, 40, 5492 Lagoona Drive, Louisville, arrested by OCSO July 27, two warrants, failure to comply.

    Cody A. Mattingly, 21, Roederer Correctional Complex, arrested by OCSO July 26, indictment warrant for two counts theft by unlawful taking over $300, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft by unlawful taking under $300 and second-degree persistent felony offender.

  • Angel food ministries announces August Menu

    Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that provides fresh and frozen food items sold at about half the price to help people with their grocery bills.

    Anyone of any income level can buy the food.

    The $30 August box includes: 

    • 1.5 lbs. ribeye steaks (four 6-ounce);

    • 3 lbs. individually quick frozen split chicken breast;

    • 1 lb. boneless center-cut pork chops;

    • 2 lbs. mac andee^beef dinner entrée;

    • 1.5 lbs. breaded all white meat chicken nuggets;

  • Divorce attorney charged with keeping client’s $1,000 payment to spouse

     An Oldham County attorney faces charges after she allegedly failed to make a payment from one client to another in a divorce case.

    Juliette House, 46, of La Grange , is charged with forgery, tampering with physical evidence and public records and theft.

    A couple who hired House during divorce proceedings allege House didn’t deliver a payment from one spouse to the other. 

    According to district court records, the man gave House $2,700 to deliver to his then-wife. 

  • Heilman anniversary celebration

    Kenneth Neil and Mabel O’Neal Heilman were married on August 1, 1959, in Campbellsburg. 

    Neil retired from Social Services after 30 years. Mabel taught in public schools for 28 years.

    They are the parents of Ray Heilman of Campbellsburg and Cheri Simpson of La Grange.  They are the grandparents of Kala Heilman, Benjamin Heilman, Andrew Heilman, Kelsi Simpson and Truman Simpson.

    A reception in their honor will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Campbellsburg Baptist Church. No gifts, please.

     

  • Engagement Announcement

    Bill and Carolyn Hovis of West Chester, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Hovis to Philip Beeson, son of Matt and Linda Beeson of Crestwood.

    The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Lakota West High School in West Chester and a 2009 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work.  She is a counselor at the Women’s Crisis Center in Covington.

  • An extra set of hands

    Fifteen-month-old Chabrin Duvall whirls around his living room, showing off his toys, dancing to the music on TV, grabbing at his daddy’s face. 

    With bright brown eyes and a glowing smile, he has every trait of a healthy, happy baby.

    Across the county, the equally bright-eyed 10-month-old Phoenix Phelps crawls around, exploring everything within reach — scratching on the upholstery, playing peek-a-boo with a curtain, pulling himself onto his feet with the help of furniture. He plays contentedly on his own, periodically turning around to look at his mom.

  • Martin graduates from U.S. Army leader training

    Jacob S. Martin recently graduated from the U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox.

    The four-week course is a leadership internship for cadets that can lead to becoming an Army officer. 

    College students experience and examine the Army without being obligated to serve in the Army or ROTC, and are eligible to receive two-year college scholarship offers and attend the Advanced ROTC Course at their college.

    Martin is a student at Western Kentucky University.

  • Litton, Bauer graduate from basic training

    U.S. Air Force Airmen Bryan T. Litton and Joseph R. Bauer recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

    Litton is the son of Todd and Kennethea Litton of Goshen. He is a 2007 graduate of North Oldham High School.

    Bauer is the son of J.R. Bauer III of Prospect  and Sun Young Bauer of  Louisville.

    Bauer is a 2007 graduate of Ballard High School.

    Dennis B. Jones, 37, 652 N. 28th St., Louisville, arrested by OCPD June 25, DUI, failure to maintain required insurance, open alcoholic container, suspended or revoked license. 

    Richard L. Johnson, 55, 4714 Grand Dell Drive, Crestwood, arrested by OCPDJune 22, speeding 14 mph over limit, DUI, failure to maintain required insurance. 

    Alexander E. Smith, 22, 1809 Wildbriar Court, La Grange, arrested by OCPD June 20, reckless driving, DUI, license to be in possession, failure to produce insurance card. 

  • Lasseigne earns cadet award from EKU

    Cody Lasseigne of Pewee Valley recently earned the Superior Cadet Award from the Eastern Kentucky University Reserve Officer Training Corps, one of only two awards given by the school’s ROTC program.

    He will be a sophomore at EKU in the fall. He also was named to the dean’s list with a 3.75 grade-point average. 

    He is a graduate of South Oldham High School. He is studying construction management at EKU.

    In August, Lasseigne will attend Air Assault School, of which there is only one slot for EKU ROTC.
