  • Lanning graduates from Indiana Wesleyan

    Robin Lanning of Westport was among 1,445 students at Indiana Wesleyan University who earned degrees at graduation Aug. 8.

    Lanning earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from IWU.

  • High school junior could win scholarship, photo shoot

    One Kentucky high school junior will win a $500 scholarship to use at a Kentucky college of his or her choice — and a photo shoot for the winner’s school. All the junior has to do is tell about the biggest challenge high school students face in 200 words or less.

    The “Promote Your School” scholarship contest is sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority. Photos from the winning school will be used in KHEAA books and other publications.

  • Brown

    William Brown and Chantal Camacho announce the birth of their daughter, Caydence Dakota Brown, born July 29, 2009. She weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 19 inches.

    Caydence joins a brother, Braeden Ison, age 2.

    Grandparents are James Leland of Pewee Valley and Linda Leland of Buckner, William Brown Sr. of Okolona and Joseph and Tondra Ezzio of La Grange. Great-grandparents are Helen and Steve Hart.

     

  • Despite some tacky distractions, organizers call triathlon a success

    Aside from a couple incidences of mischief, Sunday’s Ironman bike leg ran smoother than ever, race officials report.

    Race officials, law enforcement personnel and government officials met Tuesday to discuss problems from the race and plan for next year. In all, the consensus is Ironman competitors and organizers encountered fewer problems than expected.

    Adult education programs offered 

    To the editor:

    “It’s all about being here”– this is the motto for the 2009-10 year for the students in the Oldham County Adult Education Program. This program is grant funded through the Kentucky Adult Education Program with both state and federal funds. Our goal is to assist any adult that is not currently enrolled in a secondary program establish and work on educational goals.

    More than 1,000 Kentucky high school juniors attended this year’s Governor’s Scholars Program for five weeks.

    Among the participants are several from Oldham County High School, including Caroline D. Collins, Chelsea G. Corbin, Jared C. Dabbs, Hadiya L. Jones, Rachael M. Kelley, Derrick A. Lewis, Benjamin D. Norton, Brandy Rae Pearson, Paxton W. Roberts, Ruby Rua and Irena Chi Mai Tran.
