  • EDITORIAL: School stats don't add up

    It’s election season — and that means campaigns are making confetti out of data. 
    Because no matter your argument, there’s always a statistic to back it up. 
    Take, for instance, elections for the Oldham County Board of Education — a pivotal race that could drastically alter the course of Oldham County Schools. 
    Numbers have been flying around like monkeys in the Wizard of Oz. 
    During a candidate forum Sept. 25, Division 3 candidate Gary Gibson cited a number of statistics that have been fact-checked since the forum. 

  • Officer accused of 'sexting' teen is arrested 2nd time

    A former police officer arrested for ‘sexting’ a highschooler he met during a traffic stop has been arrested a second time for falsifying a police report after an off-duty U.S. Marshal crashed while driving drunk in Goshen.

    OCPD Officer Harry S. “Shane” Mosley resigned Sept. 28 as police pursued charges against him related to cell phone communication he had with a teenager. 

  • Fall festivals come to Oldham County this weekend

    Wondering what to do this weekend? There's plenty of family-friendly fun right here in Oldham County.

    La Grange Railroad Festival & Burgoo Cookoff

    Festivities kickoff Friday with The Allen Lane Band performing 7-9 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. Lead singer Allen Lane is an integral part of this year’s railroad festival.

    On Saturday, festivities are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting with a Kids’ Choo Choo Sidewalk Parade will take place around the courthouse lawn. 

  • Special 'pink' edition will recognize breast cancer awareness month

    The Oldham Era has a special pink paper coming out Oct. 25 in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Our front page, and several additional pages, will be printed on pink paper.

    The pink pages will include a Pink Ribbon Salute featuring commemorative ads.

    Ads are $20 each and a portion will be donated to the Oldham County Relay for Life!

  • OC’s Kemper leads team into finals

    The Oldham County boys’ soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory over the North Oldham Mustangs and ended their season Monday night. 

    Dominating shots on target, possession and goals, the Colonels made a statement that they deserve the district title more than any other team. 

  • North volleyball rolls over Trimble County 3-0

    To hear the North Oldham volleyball team talk about Monday night’s game with Trimble County, you’d think the Mustangs lost.

    Though the team may not be firing on all cylinders, they were polished enough to make life rough for host Trimble County in the 29th district tournament opener, rallying from a rough start to sweep the match 3-0.

  • South advances to final with win

    It didn’t take long for sophomore forward Stephanie Rowland and the South Oldham Lady Dragons to take the lead Monday night as the first goal was scored 13 seconds into the game. They never looked back from there, cruising to a relatively easy 5-0 win.
