  • Former mayor donates $12K in city funds to animal groups, sheriff's office

    The La Grange skate park coffer may be empty, but local causes will benefit from three hefty donations made at the end of the 2010.
    Before her term as mayor of La Grange expired Jan. 3, Elsie Carter cleaned out the city’s skate park account. The account contained $12,738 before she selected three agencies to benefit from the funds on Dec. 28.

    Oldham County government has reached a settlement with a Ky. National Guardsman who a jury awarded $600,000 for his discrimination suit against the county's police department.

  • Dragons fall to J-town

    CRESTWOOD – In an oh-so-close, yet-so-far game the South Oldham High School Dragons came within a hair of upsetting Jeffersontown for the second year in a row before finally falling 64-60 to the No. 2 Chargers Monday.
    Last year the Dragons upset the Chargers when they were ranked No. 1 in the state and were just two missed three-pointers from doing it again this year.

  • Swimmers set for regionals

    LOUISVILLE – The local high school swimming teams will test themselves again in the state’s toughest regional meet this Friday and Saturday and all three teams expect to show improvement.
    Each is basing the optimism on better regular seasons and on a step up in the level of competition.

    CRESTWOOD – The points have always come almost naturally to Nicole Bryant and Jasmine Whitfield, the complete game of both has come with time, experience and hard work.
    Bryant, a junior guard at North Oldham and Whitfield, a junior guard at South Oldham, both reached the 1,000 career point mark last week.

  • Colonels win seventh in state duals meet

    BUCKNER – On a day when they finished right where they were supposed to according to their ranking, the Oldham County High School wrestling team was oh-so-close to moving up.
    The Colonels, ranked No. 7 in the state, took eighth place in the 16-team state wrestling duals tournament Saturday in Lexington.
