The Oldham County History Center will be hosting an archaeology investigation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. This is a continuing investigation at the Gatewood Plantation, located outside of Bedford in Trimble County.
Ninety-one students from Oldham County have been named Senator Jeff Green Scholars by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA). To earn this honor, a student must have a 4.0 grade point average each year of high school and at least a 28 composite on the ACT.
The first Stomping Out MS walk will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Immaculate Conception Church, 502 North Fifth Street in La Grange. All ages are welcome. Festivities include music, bake sale, t-shirts and a raffle.
Something I remember from yesterday is an old-fashioned pressure cooker, its handle clasped in my mother’s hands. Our lives often resemble that cooker, the pressure building and the whistle about to blow.
Following Oldham County volleyball’s straight set loss to Providence (Ind.), Colonel head coach Vince McDonough asked his players if they wanted to continue to play Providence, annually one of the best teams in the state of Indiana. The Lady Colonels answered his question with a resounding “yes.”
