  • Bank robbed by man for second time in two months

     

    A man believed to have robbed Farmer’s Bank of Milton in La Grange in late April once again robbed the bank earlier this week.

    Police believe the unidentified man robbed the bank on Highway 53 at 11:20 a.m. Monday. The previous robbery occurred April 23.

    According to police, the suspect, a white male, gave a note to a bank clerk demanding money on Monday. He then exited the bank with an undetermined amount of money and a red dye pack.

  • Evridge takes lesser plea to avoid murder trial

     

    A man accused of murdering two Oldham County women has taken a plea deal to avoid trial.

    Ronald T. Evridge, 60, was charged with two counts of murder and tampering with evidence resulting from an altercation at his home in December 2011.

    Evridge had previously claimed he shot and killed two sisters — Heather Faulkerson, 21, and Sandy Allen, 24, both of Louisville — only after they attacked him with a knife at his north Oldham farm on 18-Mile Creek Road, according to records filed in Oldham Circuit Court.

  • Man accused of murder claims self-defense

    Two men accused of being involved in a murder near downtown La Grange have had their cases sent to the Oldham County Grand Jury for possible indictment.

    Henry Schultz-Eggenspiller, 22, and Roberto Cabrera Jr., 46, were arrested May 11 by La Grange Police on charges related to the death of Justin Rogers, 24, in what police have called a drug transaction that went south. All three men are from La Grange.

  • County’s first dog park to celebrate grand opening

    Dog owners looking for a place to get their pet some exercise will soon have a location to do so in Oldham County.

    Thanks to a partnership with the Louisville Dog Run Association, the Oldham County Parks and Recreation Department will hold a grand opening for a new dog run park in Wendell Moore Park.

    The ceremony will be Saturday at 11 a.m. It will feature a ribbon cutting and the first 50 guests will receive a free hot dog, Tim Curtis, director of the county parks department, said.

  • Owners of Dollar Tree property racking up fines, liens

    After months with signage up and lights on, the progress of a new Dollar Tree store in La Grange is still uncertain.

    The store, located at 410 S. First Street, has endured countless rumors of delays, as well as mounting fines and liens placed on the property.

    Those fines include $3,485 from the Oldham County Code Enforcement Board, which levied the fine at its April 2 meeting.

    The fine comes from a building code and zoning issues at the property regarding a retaining wall and a guardrail at Yager Avenue.

  • Case of Pewee Valley teacher accused of rape could head to trial

    The case of a Pewee Valley woman accused of rape and sexual abuse of a minor could be heading to trial if not resolved soon.

    Jessica Boyers, a former teacher at Highlands Middle School in Louisville, was indicted on 38 counts of either rape or sexual abuse of a minor in Oldham County back in June. Louisville police originally arrested her in April 2013 and she faces similar charges there.

    Boyers’ charges stem from an alleged relationship with a student.

  • Veterans memorial group holding golf scramble

    Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky, a 501c3 organization is having a golf scramble at Lake Forest on July 28 to help raise money to start the cementary in Crestwood.

    The top prize players will be able to win is a free three-year lease on a Cadillac with a hole-in-one on the par 3, 8th hole.

    The vehicle is provided by the Swope Auto Group with prizes from the company also available for a hole-in-one at the other par 3 holes.

    Both players and sponsors are needed for the scramble.

  • Former magistrate, fire chief remembered

    After a four-year battle with cancer, Oldham County has lost a key businessman and community presence, friends of Robert “Bob” Deibel, said.

    Deibel, 74, passed away May 11 at his house, after battling three rounds of pancreatic cancer.

    Deibel’s list of accomplishments in Oldham County is long and spans decades of work. Most notably, Deibel served as magistrate on the Oldham County Fiscal Court for 21 years, helped incorporate the City of Crestwood and served as chief of the South Oldham Fire Department for 16 years.

  • School board bans E-Cigs

    The use of electronic cigarettes, hookahs and other vapor products for tobacco are now banned on Oldham County Schools property, after the school board approved a policy change at its monthly meeting.

    The board was presented with the potential policy change at its April board meeting. At that time, OCS general counsel Anne Coorssen called the policy change “substantial” while noting the use of e-cigarettes and other vapor products for tobacco usage was increasing.
