  • Norton Commons Farmers’ Market grand opening is Saturday

    Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Norton Commons Farmers’ Market celebrates its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Vehicle strikes 17-year-old pedestrian

    A vehicle traveling on Crystal Drive by Taco Bell in La Grange Tuesday struck a 17-year-old male pedestrian. Witnesses told police the teen darted into traffic while walking with a large group. Emergency crews transported the teen to Baptist Northeast for treatment. Police are investigating.

  • South Oldham fire hydrants will be tested during the summer

    The South Oldham Fire Department will test fire hydrants in the Oldham County water district during May, June and July.

  • The Closet expands

    The Closet, a free clothing ministry, has recently expanded.  After beginning last summer with one storage unit in the American Mini-Storage at Ky. 329 and Interstate 71, the ministry has quadrupled in size to four units.  Director Rita Carrithers said the ministry is now serving more than 100 people per week. The Closet, which is sponsored by Crestwood Baptist Church, will offer a half-hour worship service at the site two Thursdays a month, beginning at 7 p.m. May 21. The Closet is open 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m.

  • Developer could pay $134K for erosion

     Last spring wasn’t the first time Crystal Lake turned cloudy from mud, but it was the worst. Where resident Arnold Oldham once could guide a boat, now his neighbors ride four-wheelers in the summer.

  • Debris removal on county roads complete

    Debris from January’s ice storm piled by residents along county roads is finally gone. At Tuesday’s Oldham County Fiscal Court meeting, Judge-Executive Duane Murner complimented the county road department for the “mammoth undertaking” of removing the debris, and thanked officials from the Kentucky State Reformatory and Roederer Correctional Complex for the inmate labor provided to help the road crews.

  • Dollars for Scholars awards ceremony is Monday

    Oldham County Dollars for Scholars, established in 2004, will host their fifth-annual Awards Ceremony from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Monday at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center, located at 7105 Floydsburg Road in Crestwood.  The public is invited to attend to help honor these outstanding students.  A total of 52 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. The scholarship amounts  range from $500-$5,000 and total about $50,000.

  • La Grange has first reading of 2009-10 budget

    Members of the La Grange City Council heard the first reading of the 2009-10 budget at their meeting Monday night. The estimated budget revenues total $4,481,290. The estimate expenses total the same amount – expenses for the year include more than $1 million for the police and public works department as well as municipal administration.
