  • Schools have new leaders

    Oldham County High School and Camden Station Elementary School have new principals for the 2008-09 school year. Site-based decision-making councils at the schools selected Brent Deaves and Stuart Martin, respectively, to serve as principals effective July 1.

  • County pushes back payments on Oldham Reserve

    The Oldham County Fiscal Court chose to delay bond payments for Oldham Reserve April 15 by choosing to refinance $4.3 million worth of debt.

    This agreement ensures county government will not have to make their first payment from the general fund on that portion of the debt until 2012. The other $5 million worth of bonds is expected to be paid for out of real estate sale in the business park.

  • River road bridge to expand to two lanes this year

    Plans are under way to replace the crumbling 96 year-old one-lane bridge over Harrods Creek on River Road in Prospect. Louisville Metro Public Works will expand the bridge to two lanes, with construction scheduled to begin this summer and last about nine months to one year, Louisville Metro Engineering Supervisor Chris Phillips said. The road closure will divert about 8,000 cars a day, he said. The waterway will however remain open to boats. The cost is estimated at $2 million, he said.

  • Partial burn ban begins May 1

    Beginning May 1 through Sept. 30, open burning is prohibited in parts of Oldham County designated by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency as moderate non-attainment air quality for ozone.

  • $1,000 reward offered for info about vandalism

    On several occasions between October and February, the Oldham County Country Club has been the victim of vandalism, causing a large amount of damage to trees on their property.

    Members of the club are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for the crimes.

  • Beer goggles offer glimpse at DUI

    OCHS students participated in a drunk-driving simulation Monday, sponsored by Oldham County Police and Challengers. Students donned goggles to simulate the vision of someone driving under the influence and drove an obstacle course with two students riding along to experience impaired driving. Goggles show a white line in front of the right lens skewed to the far left. Students wearing the goggles struggled to pass the field-sobriety test.

  • Crestwood teen charged with rape

    A 17-year-old Crestwood male is charged with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old female in Crestwood sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

    Police and court officials said they could not confirm the name of the male. He is charged with first-degree rape, a class B felony.
