Voegele, who ran against former Deputy Judge-Executive Paula Gish for the nomination, celebrated the win Tuesday night at the John Black Community Center in Buckner.
No Democratic candidate filed for candidacy for the office, so Voegele runs unopposed in the November general election.
“This is a great night for me and my family. Everyone here has helped me achieve this,” Voegele said to the crowd of well-wishers. “You find out when you do something like this, you have to be picked up and carried and be helped to accomplish this.”
