    Oldham County Police arrived Oct. 15 at a residence along U.S. 42 near Goshen to find the body of Richard Hild, 63, killed by a gunshot wound in the chest.

  • State gives Bridge Hill, Ky. 393 a green light for expansion

    After the state legislature approved a two-year, $4.5 billion road plan in April, a number of projects are set to begin in Oldham County.

    Several projects will impact Oldham Reserve, the 1,000-acre business park owned by La Grange and Oldham County governments.

    A project to extend Allen Lane will benefit both Oldham Reserve and alleviate traffic on Ky. 53.

  • Avoid deer-related collisions on Ky. roadways

    Autumn is in full swing in Kentucky decorating its landscape and roadways with vibrant, colorful foliage. 

    Fall colors serve to remind drivers that they will see an increased movement of deer throughout the Commonwealth. In addition, deer season begins Nov. 10 and motorists are more likely to encounter these animals on or near roadways.

    Spokesperson for KSP, Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard says motorists need to take extra precautions when driving during fall months.

  • Man pleads guilty to 2008 murder

    A Trimble County man has pleaded guilty to a 2008 murder in Milton.
    According to KSP, Clester Mullins, 37, of Milton, pleaded guilty today to the December 2008 murder of Steve “Catfish” Jones. 
    Mullins was originally arrested by Detective Todd Harwood on charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in January 2009. 
    Detectives said Mullins struck Jones several times in the head with a metal bar before strangling him.

  • Police identify man killed during shooting at Goshen horse farm

    Police have identified a man after a shooting midday Monday on a horse farm near U.S. 42 and Ky. 393.

    The shooting took place outside a rental home in the 5200 block of West U.S. 42 at Wanaja Farm near Ky. 393.

    Oldham County Police found the body of 63-year-old Richard Hild in a driveway near the home.

    Hild, of Crestwood, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest after a verbal argument over a utility trailer escalated.

    According to police Emmitt Pendleton, 50, fired a handgun at Hild during the dispute.

  • Outburst led to Oldham teacher's 8-day suspension

    A middle school teacher was recently suspended for an outburst that prompted him to throw items in his classroom and grab a student's face. 

    According to documents from the Oldham County Board of Education's Sept. 24 meeting, East Oldham Middle School teacher Kevin Cox was suspended eight days without pay.

    His suspension followed a three-day holiday weekend and spanned Sept. 4-13. 

    Cox, the school's band director, politely declined The Era's requests for comment.

  • Oldham’s elected officials lead the Commonwealth

    In an event as rare as horse racing’s Triple Crown, three Oldham County elected officials are serving as presidents of their respective state organizations.

    Julie Barr, county clerk, takes office as president of the Kentucky County Clerks Association in November. Already in office are Mike Simpson, jailer, and Steve Sparrow, sheriff.

  • Fundraiser brings VP nominee to Crestwood

    While the political spotlight will shine on a Kentucky college town tonight, Centre College isn't the only place in the Bluegrass that Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan will visit this week.

    Ryan, a U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin, is scheduled to attend a political fundraiser luncheon in Crestwood on Friday at the home of Texas Roadhouse CEO Kent Taylor.

    Romney Victory Inc. will host the fundraiser on behalf of GOP presidential nominee Gov. Mitt Romney.
