    Every piece of art has a story behind it, and attending the 17th annual Arts on the Green Fine Arts and Crafts Festival on June 4 and 5 will give shoppers the chance to hear those accounts in first person.

     Oldham County residents will soon see changes to the way the county’s recycling program operates.

    The North Oldham Fire Department’s (NOFD) board of trustees met on Aug. 13.  

    The board discussed the possibilities of moving the training facilities currently contained within their old building across the street from their current facilities to a new location.  Currently, the old facility houses an entrapment maze used to train firefighters.

     OCHS Class of ‘75 reunion

    Join the Oldham County High School Class of 1975 for its 40th year class reunion on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Holiday Inn Hurstbourne.

    The night begins at 5:30 p.m. for registration and social hour with a cash bar available until midnight. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a class photo taken. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

  • Extension honoree

    Joyce McKinney (right) was recently honored as the Oldham County Extension Leader of the Year.  This award is given to recognize volunteers for outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to the Oldham County Cooperative Extension Service.  McKinney is pictured here with fellow Oldham County Extension Council member Caldwell Willig.   • KSP Valedictorian

    La Grange resident Whitney Lyell (center) received a valedictorian certificate from Kentucky State Police Lt. Col. Brad Bates (right) and Law Enforcement Training Instructor Jason Long (left) during graduation ceremonies for the sixth class of the KSP Telecommunications Academy in Frankfort on May 22. A telecommunicator at KSP 5 in Campbellsburg, Lyell completed the six-week course with an overall average of 99 percent. She is the daughter of Darrel and Cami Lyell of Sulphur.   • American Legion meeting

    The monthly meeting of the Oldham County Post 39 American Legion will be held on the first Thursday of each month. The June 4 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the American Legion Post #39 building located on 2301 West Highway 146 in the eastern end of Oldham County Fair Grounds in La Grange. Refreshments will be avaialble after the meeting. All veterans are welcome.
