Fuel and oil for Oldham County Road Department vehicles will now be supplied by companies in neighboring counties.

The Oldham County Fiscal Court unanimously approved bids from Southern Petroleum Inc. in Pendleton to supply diesel fuel to the road department. Oil for the department’s vehicles will be supplied by Louisville-based Apollo Oil.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie has opened a new district office in Oldham County.

The office is located at 108 W. Jefferson Street in La Grange. It is staffed by Stacie Lewis Rockaway, Rep. Massie’s western district field representative.

An open letter to the citizens of La Grange:

On June 3, the La Grange City Council will hear and vote on the second reading of a 1 percent compensation tax that will give our city the ability to pull itself out of debt.

This new tax will only be used for the retirement of debt that was incurred by the purchase and past infrastructure needs of the 1,000-acre Oldham Reserve business park.

After the debt is retired, the tax will cease to exist and no longer be collected.
