    VMI Dean’s List

    The following Virginia Military Institute cadet is
    among the 735 cadets who were recently named to the dean’s list for the first semester of academic year 2015-16.  To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet
    must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below C.

  • OCHS student takes stage with Broadway star

    OCHS sophomore Shelby Nasser sang onstage with Tony Award-winning actor and musician Kristin Chenowith.  Nasser was selected from the crowd to perform “For Good,” from the musical “Wicked” as Chenowith’s duet partner.  Nasser has been involved with musical theater since she was five years old. Nasser takes voice lessons from Garrett and Elizabeth Sorenson in Louisville.  She hopes to attend college and study music.

  • SOMS students serve as senatorial pages

     Caroline Adams and Eloise Brown served as pages for Senator Ernie Harris during the current legislative session. Both girls are seventh-graders at South Oldham Middle School.

  • Up for an adventure?

     Steve and Shannon Pottie of Oldham County have just signed up for an adventure!  They have agreed to host an exchange student coming through the program EF High School Exchange Year for the next school year.  

  • Ames receives national honor

     The National Honor Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) recently announced that Brooke A. Ames from Goshen has been selected to become a member of the esteemed organization.

    The Society recognizes top scholars who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment.

     Powell makes dean’s list

    Jackson T. Powell of Louisville has been named to the dean’s list at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year.

    Powell, a sophomore global studies major, was named to the dean’s list for the College of Arts and Sciences.

     Academic honors

    EKU Dean’s LIst

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced academic honors for its fall 2015 semester.

    To earn the Dean’s Award, students must achieve dean’s list honors at EKU for three semesters, not necessarily consecutive. A lapel pin is presented to students by the dean of their academic college.

  • Middle school academic teams compete in districts

     Oldham County Schools’ four middle schools were well-represented at district-level Governor’s Cup competitions as students compete in a variety of academic challenges.

  • Sawyer Blair named Presidential Scholar

     A South Oldham High School senior has been invited to apply for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.

    Sawyer Blair was selected based on his academic achievements and joins about 4,000 other students selected from across the country.
