They anticipated it, and their suspicions turned out to be true. Oldham County Schools will receive less funding from the state than in 2008-09.
Oldham County Schools Treasurer Chuck Littrell said last school year, the district received about $36 million from the state budget.
This year, that amount decreased by about $830,000. Additional cuts to specific programs from the state are likely, he said.
Anticipating the budget shortfall, the district laid off more than 50 district employees this spring.
