    Boyd named to dean’s list at Cornell University

    Lisa Marie Boyd, daughter of Lynn and Rosemarie Boyd of Crestwood, made the dean’s list for the spring semester at Cornell University.

    Boyd is a 2005 graduate of North Oldham High School. She has just completed her junior year and is majoring in Sociology.

  • Neihof receives civil engineering scholarship

    A recent graduate of Oldham County High School in Buckner has been awarded a scholarship to study civil engineering at Western Kentucky University.

    Zachary L. Neihof, 18, is one of 27 students across the state to receive the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s civil engineering scholarship for 2008. Established in 1948, it has been awarded to more than 1,500 Kentucky students.

    The University of Kentucky recently honored 73 students from Oldham County as dean’s list students. To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum 3.6 grade-point average.

  • Goshen students earn diplomas from Denison

    Two Goshen students recently graduated from Denison University.

    Lyndsey Susan Dearmond earned a bachelor of science degree with a major in biology. Dearmond is the daughter of Robert and Sue Dearmond of Goshen and a graduate of South Oldham High School.

  • Oldham students earn diplomas from Transy

    Five local students recently earned bachelor’s degrees from Transylvania University.

    Stefanie Rachelle Brock, a biology and Spanish language and literature double major, graduated with honors in Spanish. Brock is the daughter of Claude and Susan Brock of La Grange and an Oldham County High School graduate.

  • Two awarded Byrd Honors Scholarship

    Kenny Minielly of Prospect and Joel Lowery of Crestwood recently earned a four-year Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship for $1,5000 per year.

    Minielly, a 2008 graduate of Louisville Trinity High School, will attend Vanderbilt University to study biological sciences.

    At Trinity, Minielly was a member of the quick recall team, lacrosse team, National Honor Society, Beta Club, environmental club and Spanish club.

  • JCTC honors dean's list students

    Four local students made the spring semester dean’s list at Jefferson Community and Technical College-Carrollton Campus. The students include Kristina Nichole Bell, Leigh Anne Parise, Jason Townsend and Ben Patrick Oliver. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.

  • Three OCHS seniors participate in leadership conference

    Josh Jordan Gilpin, Jessica LyAnn McCall and Thomas Austin Reynolds, seniors at Oldham County High School, were chosen to attend the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders, sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau.

    IFAL is a five-day summer leadership conference that exposes students to college life and explores different fields of study for careers in agriculture.

  • First Megan Lucas scholarship awarded

    The first recipient of the Megan Lucas Choral Scholarship was Lacey Wilkey on May 17, Megan’s birthday. Wilkey was awarded a $4,000 scholarship that will be dispersed over four years. Wilkey will attend the University of Louisville and plans to major in nursing. She is a four-year member of the Oldham County High School’s Madrigal Choir under the direction of Bambi Wright.
