  • Hettinger named to dean’s list at NKU

    Nicholas Hettinger of La Grange was recently named to the dean’s list at Northern Kentucky University for the  spring semester.

    To be named to the dean’s list at NKU, students must earn a 3.6 grade-point average.

    Hettinger is a 2008 graduate of Oldham County High School and earned the honor as a freshman studying history. 

    He is the son of Terry and Alisa Hettinger.

  • Oldham students attend Gatton Academy at WKU

    The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky at Western Kentucky University was recently named to Newsweek’s 2009 list of “The Public Elites.” 

    Oldham County student Jess Heichelbech, a 2009 Academy graduate, is participating in a WKU study abroad trip to Germany this summer and is studying the German Language and Culture.

    Oldham County students Chandler Santos, Tyler Scaff and Benjamin Venable are all members of the Class of 2011 and will be attending the academy in the fall.

  • Watson awarded Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

    Anthony Watson of Prospect was recently awarded a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship to help pay for his college education. This scholarship award is $1,500 a year for four years of college.

    Watson will attend the University of Louisville to study psychology.

    He is one of only 30 graduates in the state this year to receive a Byrd Scholarship, a federally funded program administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority. 

    KHEAA also administers other student aid programs, including the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship.

  • Piedmonte named student ambassador at Murray State

    Alex Piedmonte was recently named a student ambassador for the fall semester at Murray State University. She is studying pre-medicine and chemistry and is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She is the daughter of Darren and Joan Piedmonte of Goshen.

  • Kentucky PTA awards scholarships to local teachers

    Elizabeth Donatucci, a teacher at Locust Grove Elementary, Rachael Mayes, a teacher at Locust Grove Elementary, and Terri Griffin, a teacher at La Grange Elementary were each recently awarded a $500 continuing education scholarship at the Kentucky PTA’s Student Recognition in Frankfort.  

  • Hebel named to Murray State’s dean’s list

    South Oldham graduate Keith Hebel was named to the dean’s list at Murray State University for the spring semester. 

    To be named to the dean’s list at Murray, students must have a 3.5 grade-point average.

  • Saint Mary Academy’s campus blessing will take place Sunday

    A blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony marking the official opening of Saint Mary Academy’s new campus will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday at 11311 St. Mary Lane, Prospect, in Norton Commons. 

    Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, Archbishop of Louisville will preside over the ceremony.

  • Graham named to dean’s list at Washington University

    Holly Graham of Goshen was recently named to the dean’s list at Washington University in St. Louis for the spring semester.

    She is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville and attends Washington’s College of Art in the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts.

    To be named to the deans list in the College of Art, students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average.

  • South Oldham senior earns $1,000 scholarship

    Karl J. Fleischmann, a senior at South Oldham High School, is one of seven students nationwide to receive a $1,000 scholarship through the 2009 Fluke Corporation scholarship award program. He will attend the University of Louisville and plans to study engineering.

  • Stephenson earns scholarships to Georgetown College

    Jennifer Stephenson has been awarded a trustee scholarship and creative writing scholarship to attend Georgetown College in Georgetown.

    She is a recent graduate of Oldham County High School, where she was a class valedictorian.

    She will attend Georgetown this fall and plans to study English. She is the daughter of Ron and Kathy Stephenson of La Grange.
