  • Local students named to dean’s list at University of Dayton

    Three Oldham students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Dayton for the fall semester.

    Those students are Courtney B. Perkins of Goshen, and Brianna T. D’Alessio and Brittany J. Smithson of Prospect.

    To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average.

  • Hartman is a finalist for 2010 Kentucky homecoming queen

    Mercedes Ashton Hartman of Crestwood is a finalist for Kentucky’s 30th annual Homecoming Queen Selection. The selection will take place May 8 and 9 in Louisville. Hartman is the South Oldham High School Homecoming Queen.

    Kentucky’s 2010 Homecoming Queen receives a cash scholarship and a trip to the national finals to compete for America’s Homecoming Queen.

    Hartman is the daughter of Ron and Rhonda Hartman.

  • Local student named state Geographic Bee semifinalist

    Mark Scherer, a seventh-grader at North Oldham Middle School was recently named a semifinalist in the Kentucky Geographic Bee by the National Geographic Society. The bee will take place April 9 at the Knicely Economic Center in Bowling Green.

    The winner will receive $100, the “National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World” and a trip to Washington, D.C. to represent Kentucky in the national finals.

    Scherer is the son of Randy and Beth Scherer.

  • Vetovitz named to dean’s list at IU

    Michelle Vetovitz of Crestwood was named to the dean’s list at the Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences for the fall semester.

    Vetovitz is studying in Copenhagen, Denmark during the spring semester with the Danish Institute for Study. She is studying communications and marketing.

    To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.7 grade-point average.

  • La Grange Elementary PTA hosts Walkathon

    The La Grange Elementary PTA and the Oldham County YMCA, will host a walkathon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27.

    The walk starts at La Grange Elementary and encompasses 1.5 miles through historic downtown La Grange. There will be 10 points of interest marked along the way where families can learn some of the town’s history while enjoying the walk.   

    After the walk, a spring festival will take place at the school. The festival features inflatables, face painting, food vendors, retail vendors and a magic show with Mr. Magic at 12:15 p.m. 

  • Site-based council meets Monday

    The South Oldham High School site-based decision making council will meet at 4:15 p.m. Monday in the SOHS library.

  • Atkin named to honor roll at University of Oklahoma

    Andrea Atkin of La Grange was named to the honor roll at the University of Oklahoma Norman campus for the fall semester.

    Students must earn a 3.5 grade-point average to be named to the honor roll. 

  • Toombs named to dean’s list, president’s list at EKU

    Brittany Toombs of La Grange was recently named to the dean’s list and the president’s list at Eastern Kentucky University. To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher and a 4.0 GPA for the president’s list.

    Toombs also received the dean’s award for students who are on the dean’s list for three semesters. She received the dean’s award pin.

    Toombs is the daughter of Gary and Mindy Toombs and the granddaughter of June St. Clair.

  • Newman named National Merit Finalist

    Kathleen Newman, a senior at North Oldham High School, was recently named a National Merit Finalist.ee 

    She is the 16th NOHS senior in school history to earn this distinction.

     

  • Stephenson named to dean’s list at Georgetown College

    Jennifer M. Stephenson of La Grange was named to the dean’s list at Georgetown College for the fall semester.

    To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a 3.7 grade-point average.
