Heavy winds blew shingles off a portion of Kenwood Station Elementary’s roof in the early morning hours of Feb. 28, leaving underlay exposed and allowing rain to infiltrate the building. Six classrooms were damaged.
East Oldham Middle School’s roof also sustained minimal wind damage, said Jim Ewalt, facilities director for Oldham County Schools.

The Oldham County board of education has called a special meeting to facilitate discussions with Jim Urban, director of Oldham's planning and development services, and Brownsboro community residents.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Feb. 9 at the district's administrative office located in Crestwood.

This week marks the start of a local scholarship organization’s application process.
Oldham County Dollars for Scholars, a non-profit supporting students in Oldham County for six years, will offer more than $75,000 in scholarships this year.
The local chapter of Dollars for Scholars relies on 50 local sponsors who provide scholarships to hard-working students.
