Thieves looking for an easy payday have been targeting air conditioning units and other copper sources in the Oldham County area recently, including at least 11 incidents in the past month.

Many of the thefts have been in the Crestwood area, including four units reported stolen Aug. 31 behind Latte Cafe and nearby businesses. Businesses in the 6300 block of Ky. 146 have lost the copper from eight outside units and one inside unit, according to Oldham County Police.

Two men allegedly stealing copper in broad daylight Friday are now behind bars.
Oldham County Police responded to the 9800 block of Ky. 329 in Prospect on Friday morning after a homeowner confronted and detained one of the men allegedly involved.
Police arrested 32-year-old Roscoe Thompson of Jeffersonville, Ind. about 10:30 a.m.

Police arrested a Louisville woman on DUI charges early Thursday after she allegedly hit a tractor-trailer on I-71 near Crestwood.
Oldham County Police arrested Jennifer M. Lay, 21, 1116 Tindall Lane, Louisville, at 1 a.m. Aug. 18.
According to police, Lay was allegedly involved in a non-injury crash with a tractor-trailer after her vehicle crossed the center line.

A La Grange woman who previously worked as a special needs teacher for Oldham County Schools is now charged with sexual abuse and distributing obscene photos to students in a neighboring school district.
