  • Goshen man sentenced in Carroll County accident

    A Goshen man pleaded guilty to charges including three counts of first-degree assault and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

    Donald S. Jefferies, 51, was involved in a motor vehicle accident Feb. 26, that injured a Carroll County family.

  • One dead from crash on I-71

    A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 71 has left one dead and several others injured, according to Oldham County Police.

    Around 9 p.m. Thursday night, OCPD officers responded to an accident between a semi-truck and another vehicle on I-71 Southbound, near the 14 mile marker. According to OCPD, the preliminary investigation shows the vehicle rear-ended the semi-truck.

    One person in the vehicle was killed and several others injured, but OCPD said they will not release the names of those killed or injured pending further investigation.

    David A. Zeimer – manufacturing methamphetamine, first offense, possession of methamphetamine precursor, public intoxication in a public place, first offense.

    Jayme A. Snow – assault in the second degree.

  • Two arrested, charged with escape from county jail

    Two inmates are being charged with escape after one took a 10-minute trip to get alcohol and tobacco and bring it back to the Oldham County Jail.

    Jacob Fields, 22, of La Grange, and Dallas Dennison, 19, of Crestwood, are being charged with escaping the jail on July 7 around 8 p.m.

    According to the arrest report, Fields left the jail while on work detail, sneaking out through a back door of the work release cell. The report cites video evidence that Fields left then returned to the cell 10 minutes later with alcohol and tobacco.

  • Murder charges dropped for two

    Two La Grange men have seen murder charges against them dropped, despite being indicted on other charges in relation to a May 11 incident in the city.

    Henry Schultz-Eggenspiller, 22, had been accused of murdering Justin Rogers, 24, that day after a drug deal between the two went south. But the murder charge against Schultz-Eggenspiller has been dismissed after an Oldham County Grand Jury did not indict him on it.

  • OCHS grad found dead on local farm

    An Indiana man has been arrested and charged in connection to a body found on a Oldham County property last week.
    Police in Watertown, N.Y. arrested Miles J. Matthews, a 27-year-old male from Corydon, Ind., on Sunday, after he was identified as the suspect in the death of 34-year-old Adam N. Gregg, of Louisville.  Matthews has been charged with murder and theft by unlawful taking in the case.
    As of Tuesday, Matthews was still being held in the Jefferson County, N.Y. Correctional Facility after being arraigned Monday afternoon.

    The trial of a former police officer accused of official misconduct has been reset for an October date.

  • Berry given offer in abuse case

    A man accused of sexual abuse of a female minor has received a plea offer to resolve his case.

    Michael P. Berry, 36, was indicted in April on three counts of sexual abuse after being arrested by Kentucky State Police in March. Berry has denied the charges.

    According to the police report of his arrest, Berry admitted to a KSP officer that he committed sexual abuse of a female minor during a two-week period at his Oldham County home in late February.

    June 30 -- Karen M. Barnett Sparks, 49, La Grange, was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place (first and second offense) and assault fourth degree (domestic violence) minor injury.

     

    June 30 -- Dalton C. Cundiff, 22, La Grange, was arrested for expired registration, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no registration, excess window tint, obstructed vision.
