  • Clerk celebrated at retirement party

    Circuit Court Clerk Lynn Mason, left, with former clerk Laura Hargrove, who gave Mason her start in civil service when she hired Mason as a bookkeeper.

    Mason was honored at a retirement celebration Dec. 14.

    Mason is retiring at the end of the year after taking office in 1994.

    Rick Rash was elected to the office in November.

  • Drunk driver sued by wife of Westport motorcyclist

    The family of a Westport man who died after a motorcycle collision on Ky. 53 has filed a civil suit against the drunk driver who caused the crash and two businesses he visited just hours before. 

    Charley Klosterman, 65, died nine weeks after a head-on collision with a Chevy Malibu tossed him from his motorcycle onto the shoulder of Ky. 53.

  • Louisville man, formerly employed as a police officer, pleas guilty to threatening a federal agent

    A Jefferson County resident, formerly employed as a police officer and officer with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court for mailing threatening communications to a federal law enforcement officer and knowingly depositing a firearm in the mail, according to David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

    Two recent fatal shootings share remarkable similarities — and not just in the disputes, but in the victims’ backgrounds.

    Fatal shootings are uncommon in Oldham County — yet one occurred in Smithfield in September and one in Goshen earlier this month.

    Oldham County Police arrived Oct. 15 at a residence along U.S. 42 near Goshen to find the body of Richard Hild, 63, killed by a gunshot wound in the chest.

  • Officer accused of 'sexting' teen is arrested 2nd time

    A former police officer arrested for ‘sexting’ a highschooler he met during a traffic stop has been arrested a second time for falsifying a police report after an off-duty U.S. Marshal crashed while driving drunk in Goshen.

    OCPD Officer Harry S. “Shane” Mosley resigned Sept. 28 as police pursued charges against him related to cell phone communication he had with a teenager.

  • Police ask residents to 'Text a Tip' to fight crime

    The Kentucky State Police is initiating a new proactive program where residents are now able to text confidential tips from their cell phone. 

    The program, “Text a Tip,” is designed to report criminal activity, assist with neighborhood watch and serve as an additional resource for schools and college campuses.

    “Text a Tip” is completely confidential and easy to use.

  • Judge rejects plan for Village of Brownsboro

    A heated battle that caused rifts in the Brownsboro community is over — for now.

    A special-appointed judge ruled against proposed incorporation of the Village of Brownsboro Sept. 27, just hours after hearing the case in Jefferson circuit court.

    In his ruling, Senior Judge Martin McDonald ruled against the petition to incorporate for what he called “four independently sufficient reasons.”

  • Oldham police officer arrested for 'graphic, sexual' communication with teen

    An Oldham County Police officer has resigned amid allegations of sending graphic, sexual text messages to a teenage girl he met during a traffic stop.
    According to OCPD, Harry S. “Shane” Mosley resigned from his duties pending an administrative and criminal investigation. Police arrested him on Friday.
    Mosley, 36, of Pendleton, is charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, official misconduct and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activity.

  • Man, 23, charged with murder for motorcycle crash

    A Louisville man who was allegedly drunk when he fled from police and crashed into a motorcycle this summer is now charged with murder.

    Nicholas W. "Nick" Snoddy appeared in Oldham circuit court on Friday shortly after a grand jury returned an indictment charging him with 10 crimes, including murder, DUI, wanton endangerment.

    According to court documents, an Oldham County police officer witnessed Snoddy, 23, speeding on June 13. The officer attempted to stop him on U.S. 42 near La Grange.
