  • OCPD asks for change to alarm ordinance

    The Oldham County Fiscal Court is set to consider changes to its alarm ordinance in roughly a month.

    Currently, the ordinance gives homeowners a three strikes policy on false alarms before receiving a citation and fine from the county code enforcement board. But those strikes only count during a calendar year, resetting each Jan. 1.

    With Oldham County Police and the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office still fielding more than 800 false alarm runs a year, OCPD Chief Greg Smith is petitioning the Fiscal Court for a change in the ordinance.

  • Code Red system upgraded

    Oldham County Emergency Management has upgraded its Emergency Notification System.

    Code Red, the county’s current vendor, has developed a new platform that has several new features includING alerts through social media.

    Residents who follow Emergency Management’s Twitter or Facebook accounts can now get emergency alerts sent by Code Red. The Twitter account is @OldhamCoKyEMA and the Facebook account is Oldham County Central Dispatch.

    Life Church in La Grange will hold an “Officer Appreciation Sunday” on March 1 at 1 p.m. Life Church is located at 1901 Prestwick Drive.

    All area officers wherever they serve or have served (federal, state and local) are invited to come and bring family and friends to enjoy fellowship, fun and dinner.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Jan. 16 -- Russell L. Tindall, 24, La Grange, was cited for theft by unlawful taking, unlawful access, third degree.

    Jan. 17 -- Cathy A. Sears, 41, Verona, was arrested for no registration plates, operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense.

    Jan. 17 -- Christopher S. Steinmetz, 34, Pendleton, was arrested for failure to signal, operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense.

  • Kentucky State Police name new cadets for region

    The Kentucky State Police Academy presented diplomas to 69 new troopers at ceremonies held in Frankfort. Their addition to the force brings the agency’s strength to a total of 910 troopers serving the citizens of the Commonwealth.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Jan. 12 -- Damingo Zacharias, 18, La Grange, was cited for failure to illuminate head lamps, disregarding traffic control device, failure to give right of way to emergency vehicle, no operator’s license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, first offense, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seatbelts.

    Jan. 13 -- Kelly Brooke Davis, 29, Calvert City, was cited ffor speeding 23 mph over, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to produce insurance card.

  • Mosley released from jail after serving one month

    A former police officer sentenced to nine months in jail will only spend one month there.

    Harry “Shane” Mosley, a Pendleton resident and former Oldham County Police officer, was sentenced in early December after being convicted of one count of official misconduct and taking an Alford plea on a second count of the same charge.

    He was sentenced to serve nine months jail time for each count, to be served concurrently, in addition to more than $1,200 in fines and court costs.

    Jan. 8 -- Christopher L. Rahm, 43, La Grange, was cited for operating vehicle with expired operator’s license.

    Jan. 9 -- Margaret E. Gibson, 26, Lexington, was arrested for speeding seven mph over, operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs first offense, careless driving.
