  • La Grange man charged with murder in DUI case

    A La Grange man has been arrested and charged with murder in relation to a drunk-driving crash in Trimble County last week.

    Nicholas Mendenhall, 29, was charged with murder, DUI and five counts of wanton endangerment, as well as theft by unlawful taking, auto, after he hit the car of a person who stopped to help his mother with a stalled vehicle.

  • Pewee Valley Fire to open second station on Ash Ave.

     

    After a little less than a year of construction, Pewee Valley Fire Protection District will open Station 2 on Ash Avenue.

    The $1.1 million multi-year project will be closer to much of the fire protection district, which consists of Pewee Valley and the Persimmon Ridge area of Shelby County, according to Jerry Nauert, Public Information Officer.

    “We are looking forward to better response times and more fire protection for the people in that part of the area,” Nauert said.

  • Grant awarded for body armor

    Governor Steve Beshear announced that the city of La Grange has been awarded a state Law Enforcement Protection Program (LEPP) grant for $5,610 to purchase body armor vests.

    A total of 30 law enforcement agencies were awarded $170,832 in LEPP grants, which are administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) to give financial help for certain items essential in the course of their duties.

Shouse – one count of possession of a controlled substance, first degree, first offense, one count of operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, one count of giving peace officer a false name/address, one count of operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

  • Two men charged in armed robbery at Thornton’s

    Two men have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery at the Thornton’s on Highway 146 in Buckner.

    Douglas A. Orr, 28, from Pleasureville, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, first degree assault and receiving stolen property. John Manning, 47, from La Grange, was arrested as an accomplice in the crime and charged with complicity to robbery, first degree and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

    Oct. 10 -- Steven T. Leanhart, 47, La Grange, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drug/etc. first offense and careless driving.

  • Mosley found guilty on official misconduct charge

     

    After several days of deliberation, a jury reached a verdict in the trial of a former Oldham County police officer.

    Shane Mosley, 38, was found guilty on one charge of first-degree official misconduct relating to a ‘sexting’ incident with a juvenile in 2012.

    The jury sentenced Mosley to nine months in jail and a $500 fine. Official sentencing will be Dec. 14.

    The jury did not reach a verdict on the other two charges of unlawful transaction with a minor.
