  • Matthews case sent to grand jury

    An Indiana man charged with murdering an Oldham County native will have his case heard before an Oldham County Grand Jury.

    Miles J. Matthews, 27, of Corydon, Ind., is accused of murdering Adam Gregg, a Louisville resident and graduate of Oldham County High School. He also faces a theft charge for allegedly stealing Gregg’s vehicle after his death.

  • North Oldham Fire trustee awaiting opinion on eligibility

     

    After being elected to the North Oldham Fire Protection District Board of Trustees in July, property trustee Derek Wade Russell is still waiting to be seated.

    The board has questioned Russell’s position as both a property owner in Goshen and an active firefighter in Jefferson County, per KRS 75.0311, which states that an active firefighter may not be elected as a property trustee.

  • Matthews returns to face murder charge

    An Indiana man accused of killing a graduate of Oldham County High School several months ago has been extradited back to Kentucky to face charges of murder and theft by unlawful taking, auto.

    Miles J. Matthews, 27, of Corydon, Ind., is accused of murdering Adam N. Gregg, 34, of Louisville, on July 17. Matthews was in Oldham County District Court on Monday, pleading not guilty to the charges in his initial arraignment.

    William G. Grubbs Jr. – two counts of robbery in the second degree, one count persistent felony offender in the second degree.

    Kathryn J. Bent – one count of controlled substance endangerment to child in the fourth degree, one count of manufacture/package/advertise non-controlled substance as a simulated controlled substance, first offense, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, one count of possession of marijuana.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug 25 -- Anthony N. Spezzano 74, Crestwood, was arrested for operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense.

    Aug. 27 -- Jeffrey S. Delahanty, 46, La Grange, was cited and released for TBUT (shoplifting) under $500.

    Aug. 29 -- Daniel K. Boutwell, 40, La Grange, was cited and released for leaving scene of accident and failure of owner to maintain insurance.

     

    Aug 29 -- Cabellaro Salamon, 37, La Grange, was cited and released for no operator’s license.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug. 19 -- Todd K. Adkins, 34, Paris, was arrested for operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., second offense, failure to or improper signal and excessive windshield/window tinting.

    Aug. 21 -- Shelby N. Grant, 20, Simpsonville, was arrested for operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., under 21, failure to wear seat belt, speeding 7 miles over limit.

    Aug. 22 -- William Beal, 58, La Grange, was arrested on Oldham County bench warrant for alcohol intoxication.

  • Contract not renewed for North Oldham Fire Chief

     

    The North Oldham Fire District will experience a change in leadership come February.

    Current NOFD Chief David Stoltz will not receive another term at the helm of the department when his current one ends in February, the North Oldham Fire District Board of Trustees announced at their last meeting two weeks ago.

    Stoltz has been associated with the fire department for upwards of 30 years, where he has been chief for three years and acting chief before that.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug. 16 -- Melinda A. Jenkins, 43, Louisville, was arrested for operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs first offense, possession of open alcohol beverage container in motor vehicle, disregarding traffic control device-traffic light.

     

    Aug. 16 -- Anthony M. Hernandez, 18, Louisville, was arrested for speeding 10 mph over, operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol under 21, failure of owner to maintain required insurance first offense.

     

  • La Grange Police participate in DUI campaign

    La Grange Police Department is joining other local and state agencies in launching a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown to stop impaired drivers and to save lives on our roadways.

    La Grange Police officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers and will arrest anyone caught driving under the influence. Enforcement efforts will include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, etc. The special enforcement crackdown will run through Sept. 1.

    Aug. 4 -- Troy Lamont Johnson Jr., 18, Louisville, was arrested for criminal trespass first degree.

     

    Aug. 4 -- Kahlil Twyne, 18, La Grange, was arrested for criminal trespass first degree.

     

    Aug. 5 -- Shannon Willis, 43, Louisville, was arrested for disregarding stop sign, no insurance, suspended license, warrant for failure to appear in Jefferson County.

    Aug. 7 -- Christopher S. Abbott, 36, La Grange, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
