  • Boyers takes plea on rape charges

    A Pewee Valley woman has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse stemming from a relationship with an underage male.

    Jessica Boyers pleaded guilty to more than 35 charges of either second-degree rape or first-degree sexual abuse during a hearing last Thursday.

    According to police and court records, Louisville Metro Police found Boyers on April 11, 2013 with an underage male in her vehicle. The male told police the two had sexual contact.

    Feb. 18 -- Jerrmond L. Allen Jr., 24, La Grange, was arrested for assault fourth degree (domestic violence), minor injury.

    Feb. 17 -- Lindsay D. Beaumont, 25, La Grange, was cited for operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license and failure of owner to maintain required insurance, first offense.

    Feb. 18 -- Ruth E. Crawford, 52, La Grange, was cited for false/forged prescription, forgery of a prescription, first offense.

  • Fire Departments join together for volunteer recruitment

     

    The county’s six fire departments are stepping out of their individual territories to hold a first-ever countywide volunteer recruiting class.

    The class, which will take place in early March, is designed to increase volunteer numbers, said Captain Matt Nelson of the South Oldham Fire Department.

    Before this year, only one or two departments would partner for the classes.

    “It’s better if we work together,” Nelson said. “It’s easier to put all the students in one class.”

  • Concealed carry hopefuls now start process online

     

    A change is moving at least one part of the process to get a concealed carry license online.

    Those interested in a Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon, or CCDW, license can now go online to begin that process. New to the certification process, applicants may find out at the beginning whether or not they will be prohibited from carrying a gun.

    Those interested may fill out the application online and receive a background check and can also see where he or she is in the process of receiving the permit.

  • Local circuit court judges participate in annual training

    Circuit Court Judges Karen Conrad and Tim Feeley participated in the 2015 Circuit Judges Winter College that took place Jan. 25-28 in Louisville. The Administrative Office of the Courts provided the education program for the state’s circuit judges.

    Feb. 6 -- Nogues Chabeli Domineguez, 18, Louisville, was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Suspect needs identifying

    The La Grange Police Department is asking for help to identify this person, who along with two other accomplices, stole over $14,000 in cell phones from Walmart in La Grange. The items range from iPhones to Samsung Galaxys. The individuals gained access to the phones by going behind the counter where they found the case unlocked. The theft took place early Friday morning. This individual was accompanied by one other black female and one black male.

  • Former minister to stand trial on child sex charges

     

    A former music minister is set to stand trial on charges relating to sex with a child.

    Howard “Key” Chambers, 62, former minister of music at DeHaven Baptist Church in La Grange, will stand before a jury at the U.S. District Court in Louisville on March 10, when he will be facing charges of child enticement.

    In a previous court hearing in November, Chambers pleaded not guilty to charges.

    Feb. 2 -- Mark T. Williams, 20, Bedford, was arrested for careless driving, operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense,

    failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance first offense, no operator’s license.
