  • La Grange Police participate in DUI campaign

    La Grange Police Department is joining other local and state agencies in launching a “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown to stop impaired drivers and to save lives on our roadways.

    La Grange Police officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers and will arrest anyone caught driving under the influence. Enforcement efforts will include sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, etc. The special enforcement crackdown will run through Sept. 1.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug. 16 -- Melinda A. Jenkins, 43, Louisville, was arrested for operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs first offense, possession of open alcohol beverage container in motor vehicle, disregarding traffic control device-traffic light.

     

    Aug. 16 -- Anthony M. Hernandez, 18, Louisville, was arrested for speeding 10 mph over, operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol under 21, failure of owner to maintain required insurance first offense.

     

  • La Grange man arrested, indicted for bank robberies

     

    A La Grange man has been arrested and directly indicted for two bank robberies in his hometown.

    William Gary Grubbs Jr., 36, was indicted on Monday by an Oldham County Grand Jury on two counts of robbery in the first degree, related to robberies at Farmers Bank of Milton on Highway 53 on April 23 and June 1.

    Grubbs was arrested June 25 in Kenton County. Louisville Metro Police charged him with robbery first degree for a bank robbery in Jefferson County.

  • Two plead not guilty to drug charges

    Two men indicted on drug charges from a highly publicized incident in La Grange plead not guilty to those charges at their Circuit Court arraignment last week.

    Henry Schultz-Eggenspiller, 22, and Roberto Cabrera Jr., 46, both of La Grange, were indicted last month by a grand jury. Schultz-Eggenspiller was indicted on one count of tampering with physical evidence and one count of criminal conspiracy to commit trafficking in a controlled substance.

  • Kelley trial confirmed for February, awaiting DNA results

     

    Pending lab results will push the trial date to February for a Pewee Valley woman accused of killing her boyfriend with a hatchet.

    Gail Kelley was arrested in July 2013 and charged with the murder of Michael T. Evans, and also tampering with evidence.

    At a pre-trial conference Thursday, Commonwealth Attorney Courtney Baxter expressed to the judge that her office would not be ready for the initial trial date originally scheduled for Sept. 8, noting that DNA evidence had still not been processed for the case.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug. 4 -- Troy Lamont Johnson Jr., 18, Louisville, was arrested for criminal trespass first degree.

     

    Aug. 4 -- Kahlil Twyne, 18, La Grange, was arrested for criminal trespass first degree.

     

    Aug. 5 -- Shannon Willis, 43, Louisville, was arrested for disregarding stop sign, no insurance, suspended license, warrant for failure to appear in Jefferson County.

    Aug. 7 -- Christopher S. Abbott, 36, La Grange, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

  • Fields passed on to grand jury

     

    An Oldham County Jail inmate charged with escaping to buy alcohol and tobacco plead guilty to theft by unlawful taking under $500 at a court hearing earlier this week.

    Jacob Fields, 22, of La Grange left a work release cell on July 7 through the back door to make the trip to All Aboard Liquors on First Street to steal a bottle of vodka and tobacco, according to the arrest report.

  • Dispatch gets new backup generator

    Oldham County Central Dispatch has received a Homeland Security Grant award for a new back-up generator. The new 80 kilowatt natural gas powered generator replaces the 60 kilowatt diesel powered generator currently at OCD.

  • Lightning sets Goshen home ablaze

     

    Saturday’s storms may have spared most of the region from severe weather, but not every home came away unscathed.

    The North Oldham Fire District responded to a call around 10:34 p.m. Saturday after lightning struck a Fairway Lane home in Goshen.

    Firefighters arrived at the home around 10:45 p.m. to find an already well-involved fire with low visibility, according to Assistant Chief Don Dahl.

    The family who lived in the home was at the scene at the time of the fire but was able to escape the home without injury, he said.

    La Grange Police Arrests

    Aug 1 -- William H. Hahn, 56, La Grange, was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place, first and second offense.

    Aug. 3 -- Danny L. Wise, 61, La Grange, was cited and released for no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure to produce insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance first offense.

    KSP Arrests

    July 29 -- Noah Zetko, 21, La Grange, execution of a bench warrant for another agency.
