  • History Center offers wreath-making classes

     Anything that comes from nature is inherently elegant. And, also an inexpensive tool to use when decorating for the holidays. If you want unique, handmade décor for the Thanksgiving holiday, look no further than the Oldham County History Center. The History Center is offering a special Holiday Grapevine Wreath Making Workshop with a focus on using natural items for decorations. The workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Rob Morris Educational Building on the History Center campus in La Grange.

  • Brian Sites named pastor at new Southeast Christian campus

     Brian Sites has been selected as Campus Pastor for the fifth campus of Southeast Christian Church, which will be located in the former Oldham Theater in La Grange.

  • Rotary Clubs hold Super Bowl raffle

     The Lagrange Rotary Club has launched the Super Mega Sports Raffle offering a grand prize consisting of an all-expenses paid trip for two persons to the 50th Super Bowl on Feb. 7, 2016 in San Francisco.       

    The package includes game tickets, roundtrip air, hotel, and $1,000 in cash for spending money.    

  • Crestwood Civic Club offers tours, luncheon

     Make plans now to attend the Crestwood Civic Club Annual Holiday Home Tour and Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 21.  The houses featured on the tour this year will delight visitors with festive adornments and stunning interiors. Greeters at each home warmly welcome guests to see the holiday décor.  This is a perfect way to share the season with friends and family.

  • Crestwood native on child abuse review board

     Ed Staats of Crestwood, an advocate for children in foster care and a former longtime journalist, has been appointed to a state board that reviews the cases of children who have died or nearly died due to child abuse or neglect. Chief Justice of Kentucky John D. Minton Jr. recently appointed Staats to the Child Fatality and Near Fatality External Review Panel.

  • Kentucky State Penitentiary receives perfect score

     Kentucky State Penitentiary (KSP) received a perfect score during its Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) audit. Signed into law Sept. 4, 2003, PREA is intended to address the detection, prevention, reduction and prosecution of sexual harassment and abuse in correctional facilities in the country.

     American Legion meeting

    The monthly meeting of the Oldham County Post #39 American Legion will be held on the first Thursday of each month. The Nov. 5 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the Oldham County Post #39 American Legion building located at 2301 West Highway 146 at the eastern end of the Oldham Fairgrounds in La Grange. Refreshments will be available after the meeting. All veterans are welcome.
