  • Pewee Valley mayor volunteers as bell ringer

     Mayor of Pewee Valley Bob Rogers rang the Salvation Army bell at the Forest Springs Kroger last Thursday.

  • Veterans Memorial Park begins construction

     Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky, Inc. is being built in Crestwood.  Construction is scheduled to begin this winter with the Park’s dedication planned for next fall.

    The Peyton Samuel Head Family Trust made a grant for the construction cost for a brick pad at the main entrance that is only for veterans. The grant pays for 42 bricks for Oldham Countians who were killed in action in WWI, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.  

  • Zimmerman files caucus paperwork

     Jim Zimmerman presented the 2016 Republican Caucus filing document and filing fee on behalf of Governor John Kasich of Ohio.  As former Republican Party County officer and State Representative, Zimmerman was honored to represent Governor Kasich, who’s public service credentials are unmatched by the rest of the Republican or Democrat field.     The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to end the year with real meaning by donating blood for hospital patients in need.

    Joshua Hodge, 26 of Louisville – arrested Nov. 25 on bench warrants for failure to signal, reckless driving, failure of owner to maintain insurance, and DUI

     

    Clinton L. Riggs, 38 of Elizabethtown - cited and released Nov. 25 for operating on suspended operator’s license and failure to produce insurance card

     

  • Buckner Elementary Choir to be featured on television

     Buckner Elementary’s Choir returns for the eleventh consecutive year on WKYI-TV/THIS 24 Louisville and sister television station WNDA-TV. The 11th Annual Songs of the Season showcases choirs in Louisville and Southern Indiana. It will air several times on both television stations through Christmas Day.

  • Hignite earns Eagle award

     Zachary Hignite, of Pewee Valley earned the highest advancements offered by The Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout Award. He was recognized at a Court of Honor ceremony on Aug. 2 at Crestwood United Methodist Church.

    Hignite’s Eagle Scout Project benefited the Friends for Michael organization. He led a team of volunteers that laid memorial bricks and provided landscaping to the Michael Brent Playground in New Castle. This playground is handicap accessible and was funded by Friends for Michael.

  • Arts on the Green winners announced

     Arts Association  of Oldham County (AAOC) is pleased to announce the winners of the Arts on the Green Kid’s Note Card Contest Winners 2015.   

    This summer, during Arts on the Green, Fire it Up Studio was the host for children to be creative in designing this year’s note cards.
