  • Carol James Brubaker

    Carol James Brubaker, of Crestwood, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, after a short illness, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Crestwood.

     

    She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren at various activities. She enjoyed working throughout the years, with 22 years spent working at various nursing homes and most recently, before retiring in 2009, at Sams Club in Crestwood. She worked for 10 years on the womans auxiliary at Elyria North Little League.

     Ruth Ennis Peak, 96, of North Richard Hills, Texas, formerly of La Grange, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010.

  • Oliney F. ‘Dick’ Bentley, 83

    Oliney F. “Dick” Bentley, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

    He retired as a tool-and die-maker from Chrysler and was an Army veteran. He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge in Van Dyke, Mich., and a shriner.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Bentley, and a daughter, Patricia Holzer.

    Survivors include his wife, Geneva Kincer Bentley; a son, Mitchell D. Bentley; and two grandchildren, Steven Holzer and Sheila Holzer Tranzow.

    Services will be private.

  • Floyd ‘Tip’ Collins, 72

    Floyd C. “Tip” Collins, 72, of La Grange, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010.

    He retired with 30 years of service from Kroger and the Army reserves.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, G.B. and Myrtle Collins; and two brothers, Harold and Bill Tester.

    Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lucille Collins; three sons, Steve, Larry and Jeff Collins; a brother, Pete Tester; two sisters, Gertude Gleason and Myrtle Ann Behrman; six grandchildren, Crysti, Tiffany, Matthew, Erin and Adam Collins, and Hannah Geary; and a daughter-in-law, Angie.

  • Grace Woods Kuniewicz, 85

    Grace Woods Kuniewicz, 85, of Sebring, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, May 14, 2010 in La Grange after a long illness.

    She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Sebring.

    She was married for 35 years to the late Joseph Kuniewicz. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by many caring relatives.

  • Barry W. Smith, 65

    Barry Wood Smith, 65, of Taylorsville, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his residence, with his family by his side.

    A member of Hopewell Baptist Church, he was a 1963 graduate of Fern Creek High School. Barry was a 15-year employee of Ford Motor Company and, with his brother, the late Donald Smith, was co-owner and operator of Taylorsville Lake Dock.

    In addition to his brother, he was preceded in death by his father, Morris Smith.

    Sharon Bayler, 52, of Harvest, Alabama, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010.

    She was bicycling with her friends, one of her favorite activities, in Fayetteville, Tenn.

    She was a 1975 graduate of Oldham County High School. She graduated from Athens State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and minored in international business. She was employed with Continental Automotive Systems in Huntsville.
