  • Throughout history humans have  wondered whether they are the only intelligent beings in this universe. One of the most recent scientific attempts is the search for extraterrestrial life.

  •  On Aug. 31, the Oldham family reunion took place at the Crystal Lake Clubhouse in La Grange. This marks the 75th year the family has gathered to celebrate. 

    The first reunion took place at Cherokee Park in Louisville. In 1984, after Oldham County Park opened, the reunion moved to that location. The reunion remained at the park until 2003, when it moved to Crystal Lake. 

  • The Crestwood Civic Club will host its annual holiday home tour and luncheon Friday. Luncheon seatings are 11 a.m. and 12:30. The tour includes three sites decorated for the holiday season. 

    Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 at the door. For information, call Ann Murner at 292-2701.

  • According to a recent consumer survey funded by the Beef Checkoff Program, American consumers are actively working to manage their food costs but aren’t sure of the best approach. Sixty percent of respondents are changing purchasing patterns at the supermarket in an attempt to balance their budgets.
