  • Elwood is a good-tempered beautiful pup. He’s only six to eight months old, already neutered and leash-trained and full of life. When the light hits him right he’s a gorgeous dark brown and white. Oreo is a loving black and white male cat. He’s extremely friendly, even after being rescued from an abandoned apartment.   • Natalie Gabhart, daughter of Dwight and Gail Gabhart of Crestwood, and Seth Pollitt, son of Leslie Michael Pollitt and the late Sue Pollitt of Anchorage are pleased to announce their marriage on June 27, 2008 at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood.

  • Members of the Oldham County legal community celebrated the retirement of Eva Friel, the administrative assistant to Family Court Judge Timothy Feeley Dec. 30 at the courthouse. She worked in the court system under Judges Fields and Rosenblum before Feeley, and as deputy circuit court clerk before that — 26 years in total.

  • Pfc. Richard A. Wilson and Jennifer N. Wilson of Steilacoom, Wash. announce the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth Marie Wilson Oct. 27  at Madigan Army Hospital in Ft. Lewis, Wash. 

    She weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 19 and 3/4 inches. 

  • Girl Scout Troop 173 recently visited the Lil’ Big Horse Trails horseback riding farm in La Grange. The University of Louisville women’s basketball team happened to be there and took a picture with the girls and the donkey from the farm. Troop 173 is made up of girls from Liberty, Goshen, and Harmony elementary schools.

  • The Oldham County Schools Arts Center is now accepting winter registration for classes beginning in December:

    • Adult social and ballroom dancing, 7:15 to 8:15 p.m., Tuesdays, $100 per person, $175 per couple;

    • Adult Clay Hand-building, 6 to 7:30 p.m.,Wednesdays, $125 per person; and

  • Steven and Ruth Thorn of St. Peters, Mo. announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Thorn to Shawn Eaton, son of John and Marilee Eaton of Marietta, Ga.

    The bride-elect resides in Crestwood and the groom-elect resides in Louisville. A wedding is planned Dec. 27 at Buckner Baptist Church.

  • Scouts from Cub Scout Pack 984, sponsored by the North Oldham Baptist Church, recently participated in the Scouting for Food drive.

  •  There are many scriptures in the Old Testament that Christians claim Jesus fulfilled. I have seen numbers from 100 to 436 different scripture texts written hundreds, even thousands of years before Jesus’ birth, that tell of a messiah God will send in the future who will redeem the world. I have listed eight of the most popular and well known of those scripture texts, with the New Testament proof of their being fulfilled.
