  • William Brown and Chantal Camacho announce the birth of their daughter, Caydence Dakota Brown, born July 29, 2009. She weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 19 inches.

    Caydence joins a brother, Braeden Ison, age 2.

    Grandparents are James Leland of Pewee Valley and Linda Leland of Buckner, William Brown Sr. of Okolona and Joseph and Tondra Ezzio of La Grange. Great-grandparents are Helen and Steve Hart.

     

  • Members of the Oldham County FFA Chapter recently competed at the Kentucky State Fair. The Floriculture Team members, Corey Hatfield, Jessica Caswell, Heidi Gorbandt, Daniel Dunaway and Kristen Caldwell placed first in the state event among 34 teams. Heidi Gorbandt earned the State High Individual Award. 

    The team will represent Kentucky at the National event finals at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Indiana in October.     

  • The Hope For Africa Children’s Choir of Uganda is traveling through Kentucky in the next few weeks and will perform a free concert at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Covenant United Methodist Church in La Grange.

    Hear the message of The Tuli Bantu Be tour, which means “We are God’s People. ” The children are residents of the United Methodist Humble School in Kampala, Uganda. They range from 5 to 12 years old and they have been traveling in the U.S. since May.

  • Financial Peace University, a 13-week program taught by Dave Ramsey, has helped more than 750,000 families positively change their financial future.

  • Lee and Carolyn Sharp of Smithfield announce the engagement of their daughter and Brennen and Alivia Fuchs announce the engagement of their mother, Stephanie Ann Sharp Fuchs to Kevin Glenn Floyd, son of Glenn and Judy Floyd of Shelbyville.

    The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Henry County High School.

    The groom-elect is a 1994 graduate of Shelby County High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where he earned a degree in agricultural economics. He is a manager of Global Sports Interactive.

  • U.S. Air Force Airman Justin D. King recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

    He is the son of Jerry and Candy King of La Grange.

    He is a 2004 graduate of Oldham County High School.

    He is the grandson of Tom and Noralee Moock. His sister is Senior Airman Tammy Sherer of the U.S. Air Force.

  • Police Doughnuts recently celebrated its grand opening in La Grange.

    Located at 307 S. First St., Police Doughnuts offers coffee, milk, sodas and doughnuts made fresh daily. 

    The owner is Brenda Martin and hours are from 6:30 a.m. until doughnuts are sold out.

  • Jordan Phillips recently won first place in a preliminary talent competition at the Garrard County Fair. 

    She moved on to compete in the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Talent Classic at the Kentucky State Fair in the female vocal category.  

    She is a sophomore at Oldham County High School and a member of the OCHS choir. She is also a member of the Louisville Youth Theatre performance troupe. 

  •  Brooke Renae Sabo and Ryan David Sale were married June 27 at First Baptist Church of Prospect with Ben Winters officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Anthony and Donna Sabo of La Grange. She graduated from International Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla. and works at Scissor and Comb in Crestwood. 

    The groom is the son of David and Debbie Sale of Louisville. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach and works at Louisville Gas and Electric.
